The best saw ever! Get the one made in Japan!
I'm in my 60's. I have small hands that aren't very strong. They've never been strong. Jar openers are my hands' friends. Using larger saws often results in me screwing up the cut as the saw tries to bounce all over the place. I decided to purchase a Japanese-made pull saw (avoiding the Chinese-made cheaper varieties). The blade is so thin it bends with ease and looking at it without trying it, you'd think it's not going to be able to do much. So far I've cut and shaped PVC trim to fit perfectly and thicker aluminum trim for the bathroom shower door frame WITH EASE AND ACCURACY! To cut the shower frame aluminum U accurately, I simply used 2 bands of painter's tape around it with a thin line between. The saw stayed on point and my cut looked as clean as the factory cut! This saw is SHARP! It's easy to use (only pull toward you, never push). It is SO comfortable in my hands and my arms aren't getting tired when doing cuts. It seems very versatile as far as what you can cut with it. I'm SUPER impressed. This is going to make small repair jobs around the house much easier and quicker. Wish I'd bought it 20 years ago! Japan, you rock!

Excellent small pull-cut saw!
Very sharp, thin, and flexible blade. Great for flush cutting dowel ends, etc. Comfortable to use and good quality, sturdy construction. After seeing how fast and smooth this cuts, and how well it's made, I ordered one of the larger versions for making bigger cuts. Very impressive compared to the western push cut saws I'm used to using!

Great Saw, Great Price and a Learning Curve.
I want to start this out by saying that I did not buy this saw because I needed it. This was bought solely based on seeing a friend of mine use one as well as my favorite YouTubers. I have waiting this long to review it because I wanted to use it on different materials and get past the learning curve. First and foremost...the learning curve. Get ready because there is one. Having grown up using a push saw for things, I figured that going to a pull saw would be easy. Not entirely. Pushing a pull saw can and will cause the blade to bend under pressure. However, take your time and use some scrap wood. It honestly only takes a few strokes to get the hang of it. Every now and then you will try to push it but the more you use it, the less that will happen. THEN, you will wonder why it took you so long to go to one. Secondly, this little saw can cut! I have used it on dowels, board trimming, cleaning dados and cutting Kaizen foam. It is extremely sharp and makes quick work of what ever you are needing. The result of the cut is smooth and requires very little sanding. Make sure to pay attention to the hardwood/softwood sides of the saw. The thin blade curves when you need it to without gouging the surrounding surface. Given the thin blade, the handle was my worry. The handle is easy to hold and allows you to make great cuts with little effort. A death grip isn't needed. Let the saw blade do the work and you will also be amazed. Overall, this little saw has sold me on pull saws. I will be ordering other sizes and styles of Suizan saws. Like the other reviewers have stated, I love it and don't know why I waited so long to get one.

Good saw, the usual quality from Suizan, but I don't like the shape.
I bought this saw to replace my old 5 inch pull saw, also from Suizan. The quality of the blade is good, and the saw arrived sharp and read to cut. I already cut a few pieces of wood with it, and it works well. The only thing I don't like is the shape of the blade. It's tapered towards the tip, which actually feels backwards for a pull-saw. My other pull saws are wider at the tip, if not the same width all across the blade. I really don't know the reason for this- so perhaps there's some benefit, but I don't care for it. That said, it's not a big deal- just have to change the angle I pull the saw at. Good price for the quality.

Thin. NOT for heavy duty handling
you know, like your typical American-made hand saw. If you manhandle this, it will bend. It is, however, very forgiving on the learning curve. I’d wanted one of these for a LONG time, I thought, and for the price, needing something to make flush cuts in wooden plugs - and a LOT of trim/molding I found out later - I thought I’d buy one. First off, this is SHARP! First day, right out of the package, I somehow managed to cut my palm on the blade and I didn’t even feel it, just noticed red on my hand. Give this a LOT of respect. The cut on PULL design took about five seconds to get used to. It’s counterintuitive to how western saws work but once you use it, you’ll wonder why ALL saws aren’t made this way. Push-pull, different philosophies, same net result - this just seems easier. What I find this most useful for is making very fine, very thin cuts in wood trim and molding where the use of a handsaw would be awkward, or a chopsaw not giving me the fine control I need for smaller cuts or on smaller pieces of wood. This is very comfortable in the hand and makes very accurate cuts - the kerf is so fine I have to get higher power reading glasses to make sure I’m cutting ON or next to a 0.5mm mechanical pencil line - not that a cut that thin would make that much difference in fitting on the kind of stuff I work on, but I like to know where I’m cutting. This is small enough, light enough, to fit in your tool bag and get lost in there. One tip, and I don’t know for sure if this is stainless or not, but I folded a piece of paper in the plastic tube it came packaged in then soaked it with an anti-rust product. Cheap insurance and less chance of the teeth getting dinged/dented/dulled. One of my favorite tools now. Collect the set, save ‘em, trade ‘em!

The best widely available saw, sharp, precise cuts, Blade is hard too," Mostly we use it for flush cutting the plugs in joineries. It makes the final sanding and finishing too much easier.

Bought this to cut some oak, and as another review mentioned, it cuts like a warm knife through butter. By putting 0 pressure and letting the blade do its thing, it made a very precise thin cut with no effort. When I received it I was a little skeptical that a saw this small could go through oak easily, but it convinced me very quickly. What also surprised me is how smooth the wood was after it was cut. As is typical for Japanese saws, it cuts on the pull motion instead of the push, which took 10 secs to retrain my muscle memory. This blade is very bendy, and I found if I used too much pressure, it jiggled like Santa's belly, which is a great indicator to ease up on the pressure.
