It doesn’t harden and can’t be sanded or painted/stained. It is like putty and can be used to cover small nail holes, chips, cracks, etc. I ordered golden oak to cover a small screw head sunk into my staircase railing. It worked well, but I personally don’t think it looks like golden oak. It’s more of a lighter tan color, nothing golden about it.
