Only buy on sale
I got this on sale for less than $2/package so I can't complain so much. I generally eat anything that lives in water, and it's as fishy as any other canned salmon on the market. I sprinkled some chili lime seasoning on it, and it was fine. Cheap Omega-3 and protein hit, but it's not winning any awards for flavor. Buy the Kirkland/Costco cans if you want higher quality, which run about $4/can if I recall.

Highest quality and authentic salmon in pouch
I'm so thankful I finally found the best salmon in pouch! I tried the lower priced ones first. Starkist and Chicken of the Sea were highly processed products, looked and tasted like tuna and left a lingering unpleasant fishy taste. Safe Catch tasted similar to salmon but was very pale in color and smelled strange. Wild Planet Sockeye in pouch is the least processed, has the nice pink color of real salmon and didn't have any unpleasant smell. High quality salmon is worth the extra cost. I will reorder this over and over again.

Great for MRE's
I don't like the high prices of MRE kits and seldom like all the foods within a meal kit, so I decided to start building my own. Wild Planet Salmon is one of those versatile foods that fit in any emergency pack. I did my first taste taste simply by adding a few tablespoons of Miracle Whip salad dressing and stirring well to use on sandwiches, much like tuna spread. Next, I added an egg and a few chopped green peppers, onions and celery to fry up a couple of Salmon Patties. Excellent!

Very fishy, not very salmony. Functional but not aesthetic
1. The calorie profile is excellent. Low fat, omega-3 without mercury, high protein content. 2. I believe the manufacturer when they claim the salmon is sustainably harvested. 3. The fish is not sustainably processed. I was shocked to find out that my salmon went from North America to Asia to North America to end up in my pantry. There is nothing sustainable about that. 4. The taste and smell is very fishy. The contents of the pouch are unappetising and it's just gross TBH. I bought a whole bunch and I eat them because I bought them and because it's healthy, but the only way I can get through a pouch is to smother it in an avocado-serrano hot sauce. I tried various types of hot sauces and this was the only one where the green colour, the lack of sweetness, and the acidity mask the fishiness. There is also no salmonyness in the salmon. I only get unmissable fish notes without any of the nice richness and texture of salmon. I would imagine the salmon was cooked inside the pouches (pretty common in food processing) but to ensure the storage the entire thing was overcooked to the point that nothing is left. 5. I wonder if people who eat this are actually getting any omega 3. That should be in the fat which should be in that fishy liquid that renders when cooking, and goes straight down the kitchen sink for me. I am not counting my chickens (or salmons) on this account. There is a reason we have cod liver oil as an oil and not cod liver meat -- the good stuff lives in the fish oil. 6. I don't have a cat. I would imagine a cat would love the fishy liquid so maybe that is bonus for a cat lover but ... Bottom line -- this is a good functional choice for low fat, healthy protein. I hate it. I think it looks yuck and smells yuck, but I eat it because I bought it and because I am getting older and need a healthier source of protein. Once I am done with my many pouches of salmon -- I have a few months left -- I won't buy it again but I can see how if you want to train or do keto then this is a sensible alternative. I prefer some brands of tuna but salmon is much lower in mercury than tuna.

Great salmon and easy packaging
This is the perfect portion for a single serving in a salad. Just cut open and drain out the liquid and break up into a bowl. Very good sockeye. It’s nice not to have to open a whole can and keep leftovers in the fridge. Very convenient and good quality wild salmon.

It's Delicious! Perfect size for me!
It tastes excellent! It's the perfect size for me, when I don't want leftovers from a 5 oz can. It delivers a generous amount of protein and the value per ounce is great!
