    Excellent Introduction to JavaFX

I have been using Swing for some time to build Java desktop applications, and recently decided that I needed to learn to use JavaFX instead. This book is exactly what I was looking for. The author really seems to know his stuff, and the content is laid out in a logical flow that makes it easy to learn the basics of using JavaFX. There is a good combination of practical coding examples along with explanation of fundamental concepts. I purchased the Kindle edition, and the book seems to read fine in this format. I have found the book helpful both as an initial learning tool and as a reference guide. I did note a few typos and grammatical flaws that would have knocked off a few points in an English class, but nothing that was really confusing or even distracting (and I was an English major!).

This is, without a doubt, the most comprehensive book on the subject of JavaFX8. I do, however, agree with the other review that it is in desperate need of copy editing. I bought the Kindle version of it but a highly technical book likely isn't the best class of book for Kindle. I am considering additionally buying the hard copy, although I hate the thought of buying this twice and the price for the hard copy is way high for what this book is. I especially agree that it is incredibly light on FXML. A second edition should include a competent copy editor as well as a better presentation and use of FXML. Had this edition did a fuller presentation of FXML and had better copy editing, it would easily have been a 5 star review.
