Helped my 10-year-old cat a lot, but have to hide it in food
First of all, Fakespot is wrong about these reviews being unreliable (F rating); the positivity is tricking them because it's such a good product. Had to leave a review after seeing that because it's been very beneficial for my cat. TL;DR: Try it with your pet, especially an older one, and be patient for a few weeks until you see results. One bottle lasts awhile. The twistoff doesn't work but you can cut it off. Also, store it in the fridge if your house gets too warm at times. Background I originally purchased this supplement for my cat because the vet said he had the start of periodontal disease. Since I didn't really have the funds for the teeth cleaning, and I was worried about his health in undergoing it (they have to put cats under so they don't bite and there's always a risk with that), I did some research and tried a few things to slow down the progression of the periodontal disease. Brushing his teeth was near impossible (I like to joke that biting is his favorite thing, and he's a big cat!). Those Greenies dental chews caused him stomach trouble and I found out that they contain ingredients that can cause blockages in the intestinal tract(!) so I stopped giving him those. Plus, his teeth hurt too much to really chew them. At some point, over a year ago, I came across this product and the associated research proving the benefits of it. Worth noting, though it wasn't my main concern at the time since I chalked it up to his advancing age, but I had also noticed he was slightly "lethargic", where he would sleep or stay in his bed most of the day. He even had a slight limp, to the point where he wouldn't want to go up or down the stairs much. I have another cat who is much younger, and while he would play with her, he would sometimes stop and lay down in the middle. Part of that was definitely the state of his health at the time: overweight, and with undiagnosed Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) that he would get treatment for later. (1-TDC may have helped with the FLUTD, actually, though I couldn't prove it either way. More on that later.) The First Results: January 2019 to April, May/June 2019 It takes some time for it work, like 2 weeks of constant doses once a day. Then you switch to once every other day. I did have some difficulty in sticking to the schedule but I got the hang of it after awhile. The main problem I had was that my cat did not like the taste and hated it being put on his gums. The twist-off feature also doesn't work, it just stretches and won't break off, so I always just cut it off. Despite my cat's reaction to it I stuck with it. I'm really glad I did! Can't say when exactly it started happening, but soon my cat was back to playing with the younger cat, jumping and running without having to lay down. His teeth and gums are still an issue to this day (he needs a professional cleaning), but I believe it helped with relieving some of the gum pain as well. He was back to his playful, affectionate, loud self! Remember how I said that he had undiagnosed FLUTD? In April 2019 he was hunched over in pain and I had to rush him to vet emergency care. I was understandably worried and wanted to figure out how this had happened. I feed my cats very well, with somewhat expensive wet food, yet it turns out he was not drinking enough water and the content of the food was too high in ash and magnesium. Stress may have also played a role. Before I figured that out I contacted 1-TDC's customer service about the possibility that 1-TDC would contribute to FLUTD and they responded very quickly. Turns out it wasn't part of the cause and should help with the inflammation involved with 1-TDC. Yet I had stopped giving him 1-TDC just in case. About a month or two later, I can't remember, I noticed the return of his limp and "lethargy". He was slowly returning to a healthy weight and doing much better with the FLUTD treatment, yet still had lingering effects from both, I guess. I decided that I would continue giving him the supplement but by that point the bottle had started to smell strangely and I threw it out. My kitchen can get a little hot, which is where I was keeping it, and so I think it may have started to go bad. So then I stopped giving it to him for several months as I waited for his FLUTD treatment to be tapered off. The Second Results: December 2019 to Present A few months went by since I stopped giving him the supplement. He was back to his old habits of sleeping more and half-heartedly playing with the younger cat. His weight was better and he'd made a full recovery from FLUTD. I ordered more 1-TDC in December and resumed giving it to him daily for 2 weeks and then every other day, or about every 3 days. I haven't been as consistent as before but the effects are definitely noticeable! He's had more energy, his coat has less dandruff and is shinier and smoother (he's a short-hair), and he plays like he used to when he was young. To combat it going bad after awhile, since one bottle lasts for months, I've stored it in my fridge. It's got a thicker texture when cold, in case that matters to anyone. Also, instead of trying to rub it on his gums, which he hates and stresses him out, I mix it into his food. Overall I'd say I'm very happy with this product. My cat has definitely been healthier with this supplement. By the way, these complex fatty acids in 1-TDC have been proven effective in scientific studies, including in humans for treating osteoarthritis and other stuff. It's definitely worth the price, in my opinion.

Worth the money
For Prime Day, I bought four 120-bottle packs and while it was expensive, I will never stop. I’ve been using this product for five years and decided it was worth reviewing. Yes, it is expensive but worth the money. I’ve lost a Pomeranian to a botched dental procedure gone wrong at the vet many years back. This product is especially helpful for small dogs ie chihuahuas or cats, where routine dentals can be very dangerous due to anesthesia. The last time my current dog got her teeth cleaned and gums trimmed, it was $1200. My dog was in severe pain, and by comparison, using this product daily has helped reduce or elongate the time between dental procedures. I take my dog’s oral hygiene seriously. I’ve decided to take things to the next level by using daily enzyme toothpaste and applying this after this. It does have a beefy smell. Yes, some dogs like it, while others don’t (we have three dogs currently). But I’m curious about the science behind it, so I am geeking out. 1-TDC stands for 1-Tetradecanol Complex, a blend of fatty acid esters derived from beef tallow (saturated medium-chain fatty acids). It’s not the same as fish oil — it acts differently at the cell membrane level. 1. Reduces Inflammation • Periodontal disease is primarily caused by chronic inflammation from bacteria in the gums. • 1-TDC is absorbed into gum tissues and helps reduce the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines (like IL-1β and TNF-α), which are key drivers of gum inflammation and bone loss. • By modulating the immune response, it helps stop the self-perpetuating cycle of inflammation. 2. Improves Cellular Health in Gum Tissue • 1-TDC integrates into cell membranes, improving membrane fluidity and cell signaling. • Healthier gingival (gum) cells = better tissue repair and regeneration. 3. Promotes Collagen and Connective Tissue Repair • Periodontal disease damages the connective tissues that support teeth. • 1-TDC may help maintain or stimulate collagen synthesis in gingival fibroblasts, aiding healing. 4. Bioavailable and Palatable • It’s absorbed through the mucosa (if given in capsule and opened into the mouth) — allowing direct action on gums.

Truly a fantastic product.
Finally something my dogs don’t hate. Works well with a noticeable difference in my dogs’ teeth. This is a short term review, so will follow up with more continued use.

It worked.
This has made an amazing improvement in my elderly dog's life. He struggled with standing up off the ground. He now runs up the stairs and runs around the back yard. He clearly is more comfortable and is experiencing less hip pain. The product works.

Works great on teeth!
I used this for my cats teeth. It took away the redness and soreness when I rubbed it over his gums. I tried putting it in his food, but he wouldn’t eat the food that I mixed it into. But it worked excellent for his teeth, and probably helps his joints, but he’s only 5 months old.

Used to be good but not anymore!
I would give this zero stars if I could. I have been successfully using it for several years for my elderly dog but this order was horrible. The container was partially unsealed and the capsules are so dry and stiff I couldn’t twist them open. I tried to initiate a return and found that they cannot be returned. So now I’m out $47! I’m furious and canceled my subscription for this product.

Ten Stars If I Could
My 16 year old cat had severe dental work done and had gingivitis. Even though his bad teeth were all pulled he still had inflamed gums way after he healed from the procedure. He was constantly wiping his mouth against the edges of things and after he would eat he would stretch his mouth open. I knew he was uncomfortable or maybe even in pain. I stated brushing his teeth with oral cleansing gel but he hated it and I wAsnt getting all the areas. He has stage 2 kidney disease and he is on prescription foods, medications, and supplements. I’m on a support group online for this and someone mentioned this product. I asked his vet if it was safe for him because there are a lot of things he can not have anymore due to his kidneys. Vet said since I’m spreading it on his gums and it’s not a pill he is swallowing it’s fine. I thought that wiping it on his gums was going to be hard. Not at all. I do have to use scissors to open it but no big deal. It must have a good flavor because he lets me put it on his top gums no problem. I started on June 27th. On July 9th I wanted to see if his mouth had changed and I checked his mouth. I was shocked. His gums look so healthy. No inflammation. No swelling. A healthy looking color. I was so happy. I am so happy. I was giving it to him every night now I’m doing it every other night. I may at one point do it less but for now I’m sticking with this. I highly recommend. Can’t wait for the vet to see the change. It’s drastic.
