Fodor's The Carolinas & Georgia (Full-color Travel Guide)

Fo some reason, it is so hard to find a travel guide for this region (and I'm really not sure why, particularly as Charleston and Savannah were recently named as 2 of the top 3 cities in the US to travel to by Travel + Leisure magazine: http://www.travelandleisure.com/worlds-best-cities-2014-winners-list). So thank you to Fodor's for not only covering this popular region ignored by most travel guide companies, but also for covering it so well! This book is very thorough, and it includes great information for visiting the region, as well as lovely pictures. Highly recommend to anyone visiting these states.

We planned small trips from our hotel. We saw so much and ate some of the best seafood there was. This book is a great resource.

Great guide. Lots of details, including how to arrive there, where to eat, fun activities, etc. I've been using it along with trip advisor for reviews of the books recommendations and the suggestions from the guide seem to be holding up (I guess we'll find out how reliable both are when we actually visit this Summer).

My partner and I used this guide for a two-week trip to Savannah, GA; Asheville, NC; Charleston, SC; and Beaufort, SC. We referred to the book throughout the trip for sightseeing ideas, restaurants, etc. It's a very thorough, up-to-date guide.

Great aid in planning a trip to the Carolinas for my 60th Birthday.

It is nearly impossible to read the index of this book without a magnifying glass! Honestly, it IS imposssible to read it without bright lighting. Couldn’t the publisher spare to add a few more pages to have larger print in the index, which is the most used part of a guidebook??? Shame on you Fodor’s for allowing this!!! They also eliminated their Best Bets for Dining in Charleston and similar in Savannah.

A little delayed in its release, but as in previous editions this provides a good overview of the three-state area. It's wide but fairly thin coverage. The additional color photos, spreads and maps are helpful.

We bought this book for a planned trip back East. We never made the trip due to a sick dog, but we still intend to travel back east at some point. A lot of useful information.

I don't find the Fodor's guides to be as thorough or honest as Lonely Planet. There aren't enough maps in the book. I wouldn't rely on this guide for hotel or restaurant recommendations because I feel like they only recommend the most expensive options rather than the best for different budgets.

This guide is really comprehensive and gives you so much information about the area and indeed more than you could need. We are visiting later in the year and knew nothing about the area so this is welcome. We are reading up on things to do well in advance so we are well prepared. There is so much we might need to have a second visit.

I bought this book before a visit to these states. It proved very useful not only in practical terms of finding locations, places to stay and eat but is informative about their history, geography and culture.
