I think the delay can be a fixed time or random start for more realistic reaction shooting. **Q: Does the par timer have different tones for start and stop ?** A: Yes. Short tone for start longer for stop. **Q: Is this sensitive enough to work dry-firing?** A: Not really. There are competition conditions which make picking up the shots from .22 rifle rounds difficult. I thought I was the Cisco Kid, but my grand mother get's better times than me. But you don't know how to fix a problem until you actually see the problem. This hangs from the belt perfectly. Fairly easy controls when you get the hang of it. It's the same grade what what they are using at the matches. Just pop a 9v battery in and let it show you that you are slower than Christmas. Eccentrical component if you ever want to get better.
