## Description

desertcart.com : CAP Barbell Power Rack with Pull Up Bar & Attachments - Squat Rack & Strength Training Power Cage for Home Gym - Carbon : Sports & Outdoors

Review: Works well, decent quality, weights fit - Was simple to assemble, but I was missing 2 bolts. Luckily I had some. Also, I saw another review where the buyer’s weights didn’t fit, however mine do. Was a great price
Review: I got lucky… - I was pretty hesitant to purchasing this since its bulky and pricey, and there are many similar reviews regarding the squat rack arriving damaged or missing parts. I am at a point where I want to better myself and work on my physical health but have no support with my toddler and have limited time. Some gyms are too expensive, and others just have poor hours for day care. Since it was PRIME DAY, I figured, why not. It was a huge sale! Here are my pros and cons: PROS: +Light Weight +Solid and stable on its own (i.e., strict pull-ups, bench press, squats) but is even more stable when you add weight to the rack (ie., barbell and weight stacker) +Easy to assemble +Compact and not so bulky when assembled. +Nice Pull up bar (solid smooth grip, and really wide) +The inclusion of a Barbell holder (fits a standard barbell) +The inclusion of weighted plate stacker (can hold 2x 45lbs plates no problem) +Affordable (even when you start adding up the prices of adding other fitness equipment) compared to what you pay at the gym. CONS: -While it is sturdy, it seems like the metal’s thickness all around is thin and this messes with my head (I keep thinking it will break or collapse… fortunately, nothing has happened. Just wish it was thicker). -The J-Hooks hold my loads (225-360lbs) no problem but I just wish they were thicker and more secured. They do stay in place but they rattle (make noise) against the rails when using the rack. -You are required to have your own tools like a wrench or pliers to assemble this rack. Can’t do it without. Wish they included that. -They don’t promote or place as a bundle option for their side MOUNTING BARS for holding your plated weights and stabilizing the rack. “They” do sell these specifically for this squat rack. This is a solid option to have but if you don’t know about it or take that initiative to search for it, you won’t ever know of its existence. Overall, I am very pleased with this rack. I would highly recommend it for those who are beginners to intermediate level in fitness and in fitness equipment.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the squat rack go down low enough to use as bench press?**
A: Since the pieces of the frame join in the middle with a couple of bolts, the holes above and below the join can't be used effectively, which means I have a choice between a little low and a little high for my bench press. Making the DIY pins that one of the reviewers mentioned could help with this since they push straight through and don't slide on, so the bolts won't stop them from locking in.

**Q: Is the rack stable enough for pullups and toes to bar? Thanks!**
A: True kipping is about bringing toes to the bar without the use of a swing (unless you are a gymnast incorporating a glide into the move). It is an insanely difficult exercise that utilizes abdominal, psoas and hip flexor strength so no idea what Kelly is talking about. As no swinging is required any bar strong enough to support one's weight should support this exercise as when done correctly is essentially a very quiet graceful movement, the body hangs still as the legs raise up and down.

**Q: does this mean the maximum weight capacity itself is 300 + the user capacity is 300 so overall 600**
A: Nope. 300 lb of weight on the catches max and up to 300 lb user weight for the pullup bar. Not to be combined.

**Q: Can this rack support rings and 245 lbs for dips...**
A: I'm 180lbs and have been doing sets of 30 pull-ups a day four times week for the last 4 months on this plus I hung my rings from the top bar as well and have been doing the same thing with ring dips and there has been NO bending. The top bar seems very solid. The side bars are 2 separate pieces so make sure they are very tight using a socket wrench, not the tool they send you. But again I've had NO problems at my current weight. But as all reviews said including mine; if there is kipping involved and it's not bolted down it will absolutely move and flex. Keep it fairly strict. I can do a little kip but the moment I try any ridiculous kipping it slides around. My only hesitation for giving you a direct yes is I simply don't know how much flexing there would be at 245 pounds and the top rate for this is 300. At 180 it's fine. I hope that helps at least a little bit.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ CAP Barbell 2x2 Power Rack and Spotter Arms
*by T***Y on January 7, 2026*

I upgraded my setup in the house ("bad weather gym" as I refer to it as) by getting this power rack. CAP Barbell has been around for 30+ years making affordable gym equipment so I knew this would do what I needed and the price was unbeatable (on sale for $98.99 with free shipping). Prior to this purchase I was trying to make do with a small power tower (smaller than usual) and it was not even safe to use. I attached a lat pulldown system to it and anything over 20 pounds was scary and there was no way I was going to dips or pullups on it. This is why I purchased the CAP Barbell power rack. This rack is sturdy and easy to assemble with really good detailed instructions included. Now my lat pulldown system (not included with the rack) has no issues with 55lbs on it and should be able to hold much more than that without swaying. Since this is in the house I do not have additional weight to test with since I mostly use kettlebells. I did some squats and bench press with this rack and its safe to use for that too. I ordered the matching CAP Barbell spotter arms for safety later on in the day and I will review them soon too. The reason I only gave it four out of five stars is because: 1) it uses much smaller holes (possibly 1/2" or 5/8") instead of 1" like I am accustomed to for everything in my shed gym. 2) the included J-Cups do not have any sort of protection on them to prevent scratching the rack or a barbell. I will buy some felt pads and cut up them to fit to protect the barbell with. 3) the rack only includes one weight plate holder instead of two to keep it better balanced if lifting heavy. Instead it has one weight plate holder and a barbell holder. Would I recommend this rack? Yes, if on a budget. Most people will outgrow this rack within a year or two but that's okay at this price. I do not have space in my home to use this rack for any other exercises but if you have more room than I do (I crammed it in a bedroom and it just fit between my footboard and my tv stand) you can also do deadlifts, attach dip bars and bands to it making it rather versatile. For reference the barbell I am using (see picture) is not actually considered rackable. A rackable barbell has 51" or more between the sleeves and this is a 5ft (60') long barbell because that is all I have room for in this small space. I use two pairs of collars on this bar. The weight plates go in between the collars to keep them from moving. Because of the two pair of collars being used this reduces the amount of weight plates that can be added but it does work for very lightweight sets this way. Update now that I have the spotter arms: Now that I have received the spotter arms I am a little disappointed. Yes they do what they should do and fit properly creating a snug connection which is crucial for safety. However my disappointment is in how they look. This is shown online as the spotter arms designed for this rack yet they fail to match the J-Cups that came with the rack. The J cups are shiny and smooth and a have a much brighter color then the spotter arms. The spotter arms have a dull lighter finish that is rough in texture. Also one spotter arm will require some glue or double stick tape because the protective rubber is not staying down like it should. I can easily fix the protective rubber but being that this is brand new I should not have had to.
