It came on reliably every day without any any effort on our part. When another outdoor light bulb expired, I didn't hesitate to buy more bulbs, even buying the dual pack for a back up. Unfortunately neither bulb works correctly. The bulbs go out for no apparent reason at night, when it's incredibly dark. I use it for my back screened-in porch light. It comes on at dusk and goes off when the sun comes up. Remember that there must be enough daylight to cause the sensor to turn off, not necessary to have direct sunlight on it though. If the weather is very cloudy, overcast, or rainy, the light may not go off or it may come on sooner than actual darkness. I'm very pleased with it and plan to use them in some other fixtures around my doors and pool since I now know how well they work. It's very convenient to know the light will come on at dusk when I am away from home, and makes my property and home safer after dark in my opinion.
