And it came in at a more reasonable price than my longtime favorite, the Caterpillar Birmingham. I wish I could say more about the comfort and durability over time, but I returned the boots shortly after receiving them.Which brings me to the reason for my only giving three stars. The Carolina Company, who makes these boots, is often touted as a proud producer of American-made work boots. After doing some research online, I decided to go with them thinking I was supporting a domestic company. But alas, when they arrived there was the old "Made in China" label right on the box and on the boots. I tried them on anyway, and even considered keeping them, since they were of comparable quality to what I had been wearing. But in the end I felt wrong about it, since my goal was to support domestic production.I guess it's my fault for not researching more thoroughly, and asking the seller to confirm if the were U.S.-made before I went ahead with the order, but I suppose I got a false sense of confidence by a manufacturer who has, shall we say, one boot in the U.S. and the other in China.So the lesson for me here was to do my homework more diligently and pin these manufacturers down for a straight answer before buying. I'm not going to go as far as accusing them of a bait-and-switch tactic, though their bold claims as American footwear makers does kind of leave me feeling a little like that.Anyway, this is not a bad boot. Just not a U.S. one.
