Decyl glucoside is a mild non-ionic surfactant used in cosmetic formularies including baby shampoo and in products for individuals with a sensitive skin. Many natural personal care companies use this cleanser because it is plant-derived, biodegradable, and gentle for all hair types.Synthesis[edit]Decyl glucoside is produced by the reaction of glucose from corn starch with the fatty alcohol decanol which is derived from coconut.

Q: Hi there. I see that this product uses quite a few oils. My understanding is that most oils are pore clogging. How does the wash not make acne worse?

Hi Cody, Thanks very much for posting your question. You are very correct, that most oils are pore clogging when in the form of actual oil. The oils we use in our formula have been saponified (meaning turned into soap), so they are no longer in pore clogging form, if that makes sense. I hope this helps. Q: Is this soap free facial cleanser?

No. Saponified oils (as is described in the ingredient list) means that the potassium hydroxide (a form of lye) mixed with the oils to make soap. But that's okay. REAL soap is actually very good for your skin. It has glycerin in it which is very moisturizing. Don't fear it. I'm sure this product is wonderful.
