This Odyssey is an Excellent Replacement for My Old Optima!
1. This sucker is the heaviest battery I have ever had to lift way up into my Jeep. Ever. It is 49.5 pounds. It contains something like eleven pounds of lead more than the Optima redtop I used to have. Unlike the spiral wind of the classic Optima "six pack" setup, this uses the full battery case dimensions to pack in extra AGM goodness. 2. I nearly bought the 34/78 version for my Jeep so I would have more options for things like extra lights, a winch and air compressor lines. The *only* complaint I read regarding the top/side terminal 34/78 version of this battery was that the side terminals sometimes lose contact with the battery, like the internal connection breaks when something is connected to the side terminals. I do not know whether this is true or not, but it was reported often enough that I decided to opt for this one (group 34 with top terminals, positive on the left as you look at the battery). 3. The CCA of this battery are high and my first time turning the key the engine JUMPED to life. It caught faster than it has *ever* caught at startup. Impressive! And it was well below freezing outside when this happened, and it was on a Jeep that had been parked, un-started, for nearly two years. I was pretty happy, to say the least. 4. This apparently is a cousin of the old Sears Diehard Platinum, a very highly regarded AGM battery for off-road vehicles that run extras such as those listed above. Sears stopped using Odyssey to produce this battery for them. I don't know why, or whether Sears ever found a replacement for the Platinum or what. However, the Odyssey is still produced. It is more expensive than the Sears, but since you currently cannot get the Sears-branded Odyssey battery that is a moot point. 5. I do not know whether this battery will one day be produced for Sears again, but this was my best choice right now. Optima batteries have become so hit-or-miss since they moved production to Mexico and started using recycled lead. My last Optima only lasted me 18 months. I decided to not get another one and to try this Odyssey that everyone in the Jeep world has been raving about. 6. I am seriously pleased with this battery's starting ability, plus it is a deep discharge-capable unit that can be recharged with ease when it is run very low. EDIT: 7. It fits in the Jeep Wrangler TJ (1997-2006) battery tray and lockdown bar perfectly, like it was designed for that space. My Optima Red Top never really fit all that well. I had to clap it down very tightly to keep it from sliding around. This one locks right in and clamps down securely with a lot less torque on the nuts. 8. It runs my Warn M8000 winch like a pro without running down. I can winch myself several times on a trail run with the engine off and it will start right up without a second thought. 9. It runs my Viair 400C compressor all day, too, if needed. I want a more powerful compressor that is faster, but this is what I have. It uses a lot of power if you have to use air tools out on the trail. And to air up after the day is done it runs a lot taking my four 33" tires from 10 PSI up to 28 PSI. This battery does not even seem to notice the draw. (Yes, my first few times doing this I was stupid enough to air up with the engine off, which was a completely unnecessary drain on my battery. This Odyssey is a champ. You do NOT need to run a two-battery setup in the Jeep so you can run a winch or an on-board air compressor system. A friend used his to run a very small Miller welder that was set up for use in his jeep. I have no idea how he did this, but he said he ditched his second battery after switching to this Odyssey. He uses that space under the hood for something else now. (Probably a stealth beer cooler. Kidding, kidding...) It was actually this seeing him weld a broken track bar bracket on his rear Dana 44 using this battery for the welder and THEN turning the Jeep on that finally convinced me to buy this battery. (He had it off because he did not want to weld back there with the engine running. I think it might have gone BOOM on him had it been running.) I added some pics to show how snugly this fits in the battery compartment of a TJ with the 4.0L engine. Very slick! Highly recommended, despite the high price. This is an excellent product.

Great battery, horrible customer service.
The one star is for horrible customer service. My first set of Odyssey batteries, 2 using the Genesis dual battery system in my wrangler, lasted almost 7 years running a fridge 24/7 and accessories! I bought another 2 from Amazon and 5 months later they were dead and wouldn’t hold a charge. I took them into a battery recharge station and it took two days to fully charge them, 2 months later I had to jump my jeep. I attempted the warranty claim but I was denied due to over discharge, I’m sorry but they’re deep cycle, they’re meant to take that! I don’t know if it’s a bad batch but these batteries are supposed to be amazing, I should know, this is my second set for a reason. It’s been a year, and odyssey won’t honor their warranty.

Great battery! Cranking amps for my Jeep!
I drive a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2006. I'm its first owner. Ever since I bought my Jeep, when turning the key for the ignition, it always felt sort of "weak". I dismissed it as perhaps a somewhat weak starter or just a heavy engine. One day, I saw an episode of "How It's Made" on TV. It was the manufacture of car batteries - specifically, Odyssey-brand batteries. I was impressed! A few weeks ago, my Jeep had trouble starting... as my instrument panel and gauges all fluttered as I turned the ignition, I knew my Jeep's factory battery was about to be dead. I now really needed a new car battery for my '06 Jeep. I wanted the best - so I researched Odyssey. I found that Amazon sells Odyssey batteries! But I did not know which Odyssey battery to buy. I did an online search for "Odyssey Factory Batteries" and found the official factory webpage. Beware of some third-party vendors that include "odyssey" in their website name - they are not official! On the official Odyssey Factory webpage, I entered my car information (Jeep 2006) and the website gave me the specific model of Odyssey battery that is appropriate, the "34-PC1500T". Now that I knew that I needed an Odyssey 34-PC1500T battery, I searched on Amazon and found it! Great price and free Super Saver shipping - important since this thing weighs 52lbs! I placed the order. It took about 8 business days for me to receive it using Super Saver shipping (ground). When I received it, it came very well packaged! I replaced my Jeep's factory battery with the Odyssey - WOW! Seriously, my Jeep has never started so GOOD! "BROOOOM!" Powerful start! Cranking amps! Better than new! The battery was a bit expensive, but well-worth it for a critical part of the car you love. I love my Jeep - you should love your car too! :-) I highly recommend this battery! It's the best!

Failed after 18 months, took 20 days to get it replaced under warranty
It's one of the highest rated and warrantied batteries available but completely failed in 18 months. The warranty claim was accepted quickly but it took 20 days before the replacement reached me. Disappointing, they even delayed shipment because of the Thanksgiving Holiday, even though my claim was approved on November 19!

You get what you pay for - This battery delivers on that idea.
It's hard to write a review for a battery like this unless you've used it for it's entire lifetime (which is an expected 10 to 12 years!) I bought this battery after a ton of research and deciding that I wanted the best and longest lasting made-in-the-USA battery I could buy. It lead (heh, lead... get it?) me to this Odyssey battery. I'm impressed by the technology and craftsmanship they put into every battery and that they tout the longest storage life and service life of any battery on the market. It's what I wanted, but the price made it difficult to justify. Ultimately I bought it after I decided I'd rather pay for a battery once in 10 years than 2-3 batteries every 4-5 years. I replaced an old Optima battery that served well for about 5 years before I left it in storage and the voltage dropped too far to save. I tried every trick in the book to get it back but the Optima failed a load test every time. If I got it jumped/charged it'd work for the day but as soon as it would sit for more than a day it would lose all voltage and amperage. The Odyssey saved the day. I threw this in my '68 Tempest. I'm sure this battery is completely overkill for a weekend cruiser car but I wanted to be very certain that I could fire it up whenever I wanted to and not have to worry about my battery's performance. The battery comes in at 50 pounds so it's definitely heavy but the built-in carrying handle is more than up to the task of getting it from the shipping box to the battery tray. The battery is completely sealed with no vent holes or anything of the like and it fit right in my Pontiac's battery tray. As soon as I had it installed I had to check the cranking power of this thing and I have NEVER heard my starter motor spin so fast. It's amazing how much amperage and power this battery can deliver. My Optima wouldn't even put out that much juice when it was brand-new. Time will tell how this battery holds up but for the time being I'm incredibly impressed with the build quality, design and starting performance this thing puts out. I had to dish out a good amount of money for this thing but if I don't have to worry about it for 10-12 years like the included paperwork says I'll be even happier than I am now.

A Little Pricy
The battery works well, but it is a bit on the expensive side.

Powerful
I ordered these batteries for my Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab after reading the reviews about how great they are, and how they have performed so well for so many years for those that have tried them. I live in Arizona, and batteries sometimes only last 6 months to a year here, and my truck has TWO of them and even the cheaper ones are $160+ each. Even with a warranty allowing you to replace them for 2 or 3 years it is a pain to pull 2 batteries out every 6 months (sometimes more frequently, sometimes less, depending) and wait for the dealer to "test" them and then give you replacements. Then after the warranty is up you're paying another $160+ each to replace them, and that's IF you haven't had to pay a PRORATED amount at some point during that 2 or 3 years already! These batteries apparently have a good warranty with no prorated nonsense attached. I thought I would give them a chance after hearing some people here in Arizona saying they have had these last 10-12 years, which is unheard of from almost ANY battery! At twice the price per battery, if they last that long they'll more than pay for themselves! My old batteries would sometimes be drained after a week if I didn't drive the vehicle or at least start it and let it run for a while to keep it charged, these batteries don't show any sign of this weakness and are already an improvement over my old batteries, so I consider that a win! The overall build quality of these is far superior to the other brands I have used in the truck so far, so here's hoping these hold up and prove themselves to be as good as everyone says! I have faith they're going to perform. I used to use a lot of Optima batteries and they were always pretty solid. These are supposed to perform as good or better than those, and if that is true, this will be my new go-to brand!

Odyssey does not honor warranties, and the battery last no longer than a Wmart battery.
Battery is 2 years old, I bought this battery and paid nearly 3x the cost of a normal battery mainly because of its warranty and quality, thinking it would last much longer a standard battery but was sorely mistaken on both accounts. It is in a classic car that gets driven about once per month so it has a battery disconnect switch and a expensive digital battery maintainer. After the covid issue I hadn't driven the car for 2-1/2 months and while in the garage noticed the maintainer light blinking with battery error. Bottom line it will charge up to 12.7 volts but has no amperage and wont start the car. Using a different battery it starts right up. Odyssey has refused the warranty stating the resting charge voltage is too low and the battery is over discharged and the warranty void. That's the definition of a warranty condition, the battery no longer functions as it should and it was given more than reasonable care and maintenance. Please save your money and time and but a different brand of battery, these are VERY expensive batteries with very poor warranty service and apparently the quality is no better than a Wmart brand who would have replaced it no questions asked for 1/3 the price.
