Great chinking material!
This cord can serve several purposes, but was great for my engineered log cabin. While engineered logs are supposed to require chinking, eventually the logs twist out of shape and the gaskets used two decades ago begin fail. We had our logs sand blasted for new finish and the amount of sand inside proved this! This chinking helped re-establish the tightness of our seal so well, we had to crack a window to light our wood stove! Exactly what was looking for…better insulation!

Cuts the cold drafts!
I live in an older apartment and had bad drafts where the floor trim and carpet meet (weird, I know), because my apartment has a basement underneath and has likely settled, leaving this gap and airflow between the two. Anyhow, I needed something to stuff in the gap to stop the draft, and this worked perfectly! I got the 1/2 inch, 100 feet, and it was plenty. I was able to easily poke it under my floor trim, where it's supposed to meet the carpet, with ease. It filled in the gaps, and I have no more freezing drafts! The money I spent will help cut my heating and cooling, so I'm a very happy camper. The product was easy to shape, bendable, and easy to cut with scissors if needed.

Great product
This is great closed cell backer rod. I used it to fill gaps in my concrete so no ice would get in there. Used self leveling concrete sealant over this. Worked perfectly. Now I'm looking all over the property to fill gaps so I can use up the roll. I recommend this product!

Good
I had some work done on my driveway this fall. There was a gap between the driveway and concrete which needed to be filled with some caulk. After reading up on how to do this, I learned that using this will reduce the amount of caulking needed. Some people said that you should buy a bigger size that the gap measures. I had a 1/4" - 1/2" gap so I went with the 1/2" rope. The closer the gap got to the 1/4" size the less usuable the 1/2" rope was. I ended up cutting the rope to thin it. But it works very well although the length leaves alot left over.

Helpful for a variety of caulking projects
Used these to help fill in gaps in my concrete so I could seal over them. You can cut them in half for smaller holes so that sealant does not drip though. Good for a variety of uses.

Great insulator
We purchased this as an insulator between our window frame and the wall. We live in a 1920's home that was originally all plaster. The previous owners changed the walls to drywall, but did not fill in the gaps between the window frame and the now much thinner walls. Cold air would blow in through these gaps. We pushed this between the window frame and the wall as insulation to block the cold air from pouring in. It did the trick! Since the width of these gaps changed as you went along the window it was the perfect solution.

The picture makes it appear that there is a leading, tapered edge on this backer rod. I ordered this in expectation of that, but the rod is round not tapered as shown. I'm ok with that, as I will maybe use it at some point for another purpose, but I did have to order a smaller diameter rod for my current needs.
