Does not harden. BY DESIGN….
If that is what you need it is right. This is for pin holes, nail holes and works very well without the need to REFINISH. The hardening kind is great. If you are sanding and finishing AFTER using it. This is not that.

Wood putty
It is what it is. If you are unsure about color get a shade dark and a shade lighter so it can be mixed. Best for nail holes in crown molding, take a very long time to dry, like weeks.

Make Sure You Understand What This Is
As others have noted, this is NOT wood filler used to patch holes/cracks. It doesn’t harden and can’t be sanded or painted/stained. It is like putty and can be used to cover small nail holes, chips, cracks, etc. I ordered golden oak to cover a small screw head sunk into my staircase railing. It worked well, but I personally don’t think it looks like golden oak. It’s more of a lighter tan color, nothing golden about it. Ok product for what it is, but it’s use is purely cosmetic, not for repairs.

Not black; not sticky enough
I ordered ebony, thinking that would be black. It isn't, it's dark gray. Dark gray may work if you are actually color matching to minwax ebony stain, but I wanted black to cover imperfections in black painted furniture. Even if the color were correct for what I wanted, this product wouldn't be usable. It is a strange consistency. It isn't sticky enough to actually stick to minor imperfections in wood furniture. I tried and it didn't work. And I'm no novice, I've gone thru several tubes of a different brand's white wood putty on various repairs. I'm tossing this product.

Covers nail holes!
Easy to use for covering nail holes in paneling. Golden oak putty blends into the paneling - not too dark, not too light!Keep in fridge to keep it from drying out and hardening.

Does not dry
Terrible product. Did not dry even after a week following application. Messed up my wood trim. Would have given it a minus five star if I could.

This stuff is perfect for covering up nails.
I made my own DIY slatwall for my office. The only thing I ended up not liking was that you could make out each nailhead. After a bit of research I found that you can cover up nailheads in woodwork with a nail punch and some wood putty.I ordered some of this to match the Minwax Special Walnut stain I used. Then took a trip down to my local hardware store and purchased a nail punch. This stuff couldn't be easier to use.Use the nail punch to "punch" the nail a little further into the wood, just enough so it's no longer flush with the surface of the wood. Put a dab of putty on your finger and wipe it across the nail you just punched. You'll be hard pressed to find the nails afterward. Wish I knew about this stuff a long time ago.

Did the Trick
One of the panels on my front door separated from the part next to it so that I could see light shining through. I think the product is very good. My delivery, not so much. First, my order went missing. Then the next attempt arrived with the package intact but inside, the top was off. Still, the handy color chart worked perfectly. I stuffed some of the stuff into the crack, smoothed it with a wet sponge, and my front door is all sealed up with no trace of the repair. I gave 5 stars to the product, not the seller.
