Joan Rivers Great Hair Day Root Touch Up Powder – Fill-in Powder for Thicker, Fuller Looking Hair (Dark Brunette)

I have tried different products to cover gray roots between salon visits. This Joan Rivers product was advertised in a clothing catalog. I did some research and ordered from this site the "blonde" as reccomended by several reviews and YT presentations. One presenter said blonde is what 80% of people will use. The pressed powder in the pan is dark brown, however when it is tapped in with the brush it covers the root line at the part, thinning temples and crown. This blends in I have blonde highlights, medium to light brown hair and "wicked" white roots according to my stylist. Start farther back and move towards the front of the face. Short, quick taps worked best for me. It is buildable. I worked out and slept with the product in. No transfer or icky brown sweat. Washed out fully. The bristle brush does shed but I decided not to let that bother me. If you want a better brush there are expensive cosmetic ones, the art section at craft stores may have better price point. There are also angled retractable brushes for foundation. I have an extra one. I may try that with the bristles barely out of the tube. Some reviews had trouble opening the case. There is a verticle line on the cover press it down and the compact swings open. Regarding the smell. It is very light, not unpleasant or noticable after a few minutes post application. I will update as needed and ost photos when I have time.

Great hair enhancement. Takes away the shine and scalp color to match hair. Not messy or sticky. Really works on widening hair parts. Actually makes hair seem fuller. Quick and easy to use. The compact and brush are really nice too.

This is a decent product. It does a good job of making my white scalp that shows through my thinning temples less noticeable but it’s not because it makes my hair look thicker, it just makes my scalp look more tan. It does stay on all day and came with a great brush though. I have to be very careful when applying because it makes my hair look orange if I get it on my hair. I just can’t seem find a product that does the same thing for blondes as they do for darker hair, make it look thicker. Either they are all too yellow, too brown or too orange. I’ll keep using it but it’s pricey and idk if I will buy it again. It’s more economical to just use my bronzing stick and apply with a small brush.

My hair thinned as I aged and stopped coloring my hair. The thinning was around my hairline and the top of my head. My hair is all silver and gray. It made the thinning quite obvious as I could see my scalp. I tried a few products which were unsatisfactory. I tried The Joan Rivers Great Hair Root Touch up Powder in white. It comes with a brush which allowed me to apply color on my scalp in the places it needed to go. I also brush it on some of the darker hair to lighten it. It stays where I apply it and lasts until I wash my hair. It does not change the feel of my hair. It is a pressed powder and doesn't fly all over the place when applying. I would suggest using it before you dress. I was so pleased, I just reordered my second one.

It’s a great product - been using it for years. It blends so well into your own hair color or enhanced color. I hope it’s always available.

Thin hair? Then this is a must! The perfect coverage for your hair part, etc. It goes on easy and stays till you shampoo out. It gives you a fuller look for thin hair. Ive been using it for years and highly recommend!

No dislikes. Recommend for those whose hair is not as thick as it once was.

Just got it, thus not used to much, but so far it provides excellent coverage with very natural effect. Small brush allows you to control application. Not yet noticed any transfer to clothes or bedding, but I’ll update the review after some use.

I love this product and the brush included. I was using another brand, no names, but it starts with Clar. This brand has far better coverage and I was able to find a better colour match with this brand. I suspect I will save money in the long run. I found the container a bit tricky to open. It opens in the OTHER side from the mirror, you need to angle press to get the other side open. I did it wrong at first, and the container came apart, but then it clicked right back in. That's quality.

For me, this product is much better for disguising my thin hair than filament powders on the market because the application process is very precise and similar to applying eye shadow. The pressed powder allows you to add as much or as little colour as you want. The brush that comes with it is an ideal size and I am able to load it up and apply more product to my hair part and a very thin area on the top of my scalp or just dab it on the compact for the lighter amount of product I need for improving my hairline. The brush also blends the fill-in powder nicely for an even result. The application process didn't take me much time but I expect as I continue to use this product, the application time will become quicker. I really like this fill-in powder and recommend it to anyone who has been frustrated with other products that are messy, clumsy to apply, and hard to achieve an even and subtle result with.
