    I would not recommend this book for children

I would not recommend this book for children. It has very strong negative suggestions about of people in different parts of the world. For instance, there is one chapter where Pippi appolizes for lying to her new friends then says it’s because she stayed in the Congo for too long where “there is not single person who tells the truth” (pg. 18).  I was horrified as I read this with my 7 year old.

Book cake. Exactly as expected. I got it for my 6 year old daughter.. We read a chapter a night.. She loved it! The vocabulary is a little difficult because it's British and also old.. So a lot of the phrases she did not understand. It Def uses very adult vocabulary. Many of the paragraphs are describing sceneries and such with difficult language.. But mostly she understood and what she didn't I explained. In short this book is timeless and every child should. Read it.

I loved--I mean loved Pippi Longstocking as a little girl, and I was excited to share this with my elementary school-aged daughters. As an adult, I realize how many instances of over racism there are in the book. I skipped over a few parts...
