All of the fire department books and studying resources that I have bought have been paled in comparison to Norman's book and study guideMany of the tactical considerations that he talks about are still very valid today.Although, recently (in the last 5 years) performed studies with regards to fire flow paths have proven some of his ideas on ventilation wrongZero issues with the technical side of the study CD, even on a Mac.One of the best books I have ever used in preparing for a promotional exam.No glaring errors aside from the required update with fire flow path changesSeriously easy to use CD study guideUniquely suited for firefighters' study habitsCan't find a better resource for beginning fire department officersKeep in mind that not every tactic will work for every departmentShare with your friends

This is a great book, although I was hoping for more from the audio book version.  My hopes of Norman actually reading his own work were dashed when some average Joe started reading after the forward.  I wonder if there was a technical editor who listened to it before it went to press, as there are several mispronunciations of firefighting lingo.  There are also areas of "dead air" and repetitions of lines, along with the paper shuffling noises in the background from time to time.  It's not bad for about the first half, but it gets worse as you go along.  Like I said, the information is still great, but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.  I just expected more......

This book is still the most relevant tactical guidebook for fire officers I have come across (and I've read many).  The best thing about it is it is well written and interesting to read.  At no point did I find any of the information dry or dated.  I will read this again and again throughout my career as it is a no B.S. tactical guide (unlike almost every IFSTA guide out there)
