Solid Rack, Well made
The HItch mount Rack Platform is sturdy and well made. You can easily make it into a one bike rack which I did. It is refreshing that Maxxhaul makes a bike rack that has a great price and really well made. The instructions are clearly terrible. Maxx Haul makes an easy project into a difficult one. They should start "over again". I am not the only person that find them stupidly unclear. Hire another person to take over that project. The wheel wells adjustment, the distance the wheel clamps are way from each other, is time consuming since they are almost impossible to slide. I had to take the wheel clamp off to move it. You need this adjusted perfectly because the bicycle will be more secure and balanced on the rack. You should probably make sure the air pressure in each tire is perfect since it does affect this adjustment. There is a bit of wiggle room so replacing the quick dissconect fitting, which hold the rack together, with regular bolts would make this rack absolutely solid. The great price and this solidly made rack makes this a very good deal.

Good Product, Served its Purpose
This served its purpose for as long as I needed it to, holds up two relatively large bikes quite well. Survived 4 8 hour trips, mostly on the highway. Easy to use, especially with a helping hand. Seems to work just as intended, holds the bikes in place. I haven't had any safety issues with this item.

Great value for the $ ** May require modification to prevent exhaust frying bike tire **
I've used a home-made rack for 20 years but it required removing the front bike tire, which has become a chore. So I looked at the myriads of racks which don't require removing a tire, from $ to $$$$. The high-buck racks were WAY out of my pocketbook range so I concentrated on the low-end racks and decided to give this one a shot, and I'm quite happy with it. Sure it isn't perfect but with a bit of mods it suits my needs very well. * PROS: - Great buy for the money - Easy to assemble/disassemble - Easy to install/remove from vehicle - Easy to mount/dismount bike - Reasonably lightweight - Sturdy when bike is clamped TIGHT - Clamp provided to prevent hitch wobble (see photos for my fix) * CONS: - No locking mechanism - Tilt mechanism wobbles (see photos for my fix) - Depending on your vehicle the exhaust from tailpipe likely to heat tires unacceptably... (see photos for my fix) When I was removing my bike after a 10 mile drive I almost burned my hand when I bumped up against the metal rail, which is when I realized the rack was just above being in-line with the exhaust. Back home after the ride I checked the temperature of the bike tire and metal bar and they were 175° & 190°! Since the rack was too far out from the vehicle for my taste (Toyota 4Runner), I got the idea to cut the center bar and overlap it, in effect shortening it 4" and raising it 2". I bolted it together first to make sure it did what I wanted, and now that it works I will weld it together permanently. About the exhaust heating tires and rack bar issue... I would guess a LOT of people never realize this could be an issue (I never did because my custom rack was much higher) but it is worth checking the relationship between exhaust stream and bar/tire height before driving along distance, only to have a melted/deteriorated tire. I don't fault the rack at all for no locking mechanism because I never leave the bike unattended on the rack, it's always home to biking and back to home. If it HAD a locking mechanism it would cost more, which would reduce the value per $. (I do have a means to lock the wherever there is a removable pin so I actually CAN lock the bike to the rack while preventing rack disassembly as well, but again, I never leave it unattended so I don't bother.) I use other means to prevent hitch wobble (see photos for my fix) so I used the provided clamp to prevent wobble from the tilt mechanism instead, as it was more than I expected. Sure I won't be able to tilt the rack but the trade-off for no wobble AT ALL was worth giving up the tilt, which I won't use anyway. NOTE: Plan on taking extra time to figure out exactly where you want to clamp the tire baskets. I'd recommend facing the bike(s) with the chain on the OPPOSITE side from the rack so the knob doesn't interfere with the any part of the bike. Overall, knowing what I know now, I would buy this rack again and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to keep the cost under $100.

Great value and quality
Very pleased with the value here, carried my full suspension Specialized baby from California to Kansas without any issues. Locks up securely for the road; I bought a Rhino hitch lock and use a New Yorker chain for my bike itself, plus a small cable gun lock worked in a pinch for the front wheel. Fast and easy to install/remove for moving into your hotel room or whatever, only takes a couple minutes to get on/off your vehicle once it's assembled.

Finally! Simple, sturdy, quality components, more than affordable.
It's $89, what do you expect? Well, I expected to get a poorly constructed, difficult to use, throw away piece of hardware that might get my walmart bikes to and from the campground. I've owned products from Thule and Yakima, and this certainly doesn't hold a match to the build quality of those big names. But it's $89. I expected $45 of cheap hardware and flimsy square stock. What I actually got was a decent piece of equipment that I am confident will last several years. Easy to assemble, easy to adjust, and easy to dismantle and store. Quality self-retaining through pins at every junction, more than enough horizontal and vertical adjustment to accommodate my 29er MTB and my wife's 26er (perfectly balanced, btw), and strong knurled knobs to cinch everything down. The rubber wheel straps are simply peace of mind, these bikes aren't moving. Need to get in the back of the Tahoe? Pull the pin and lay the bikes down. Is it easy? Not really, but it's not hard either. Oh, and it's $89. Throw in the bolt on, anti-wobble square bolt and 1/4 inch steel plate that doubles as a free theft deterrent? Yeah, I'm more than pleased. Got $7k worth of specialized carbons? Buy once, cry once; go buy a big name, you'll be glad you did. Got $1k in Walmart specials? Pull the trigger on this guy, you'll be glad you did. Frankly, if and when I move up to something intermediate, I won't hesitate to throw it on this rack. 89 bucks, and not a doubt in my mind the bikes are safely behind me when I get where I'm going. Good job to MAXXHAUL for finally putting out a rack that will do what the big names do, just as well, at a fraction of the price. Might buy another one just so I don't feel guilty, because I don't know how they made a dime on this thing.

Worth it.
Good enough for our 17lb road bikes to take back and forth to shop when we need to. We'll built for the cost. No issues. Well worth the money. Simple. Easy assembly. Holds bikes just fine.

You can't beat this price for an entry level tow hitch bike rack. Value for money. Works as advertised. Rack was surprisingly stable even at high speed (up to 100km/hr on motorway). Didn't get to drive off road with this. Would advise to add anti-vibration clamp and tow lock. Taking 1 star away as the included tow pin was poorly machined and too short and thick for my tow hitch. Had to manual grind it to get it to fit. The other tow lock I bought separately had no issues at all. Relatively light weight, easy to assemble and disassemble (approx 3-5mins). Does well for its intended purpose. Would recommend to other potential buyers.

Got this rack delivered in 2 days with Prime. The lock pins were kinda different from the instruction sheet, & some were smaller in diameter than the holes. Some wobbling & balancing I did not like on the road with 2 bikes in. As other reviewers suggested, I replaced both left and right quick removal pins by quality bolts (tight fit in the holes) and nylon locking nuts for safety (less than $5.00). I did not care to make it "permanent" as I have plenty of room for storage. At the mean time while I was there with a ratchet I tightened the center bolt that holds the vertical post (It was kind of loose). Now everything is tight, sturdy and solid, love this rack that costs a fraction of a Thule!

A surprising good product. I thought it might be lacking somewhere (finish) because of the price. Not so. Well packaged. East to follow instructions (though hardly needed, other than knowing which pin goes where), very well finished with everything fitting neatly and tightly where it should. I have no hesitation recommend this rack. Fits my 29” MT bike fine despite their disclaimer.

This fits very well and is very strong as well. Its safer than most of the other bike racks and the mounting does not take much time as well. This can be easily dismantled and stored in the trunk of the car. It takes about 10-15min to attach it to the car and mount the cycles so very satisfied with the purchase and highly recommend this rack.
