Very well made wood pieces and so fun. I love the dice as a teaching concept, but after the first play we decided to nix the dice and just play regular chess. My 6 year old loves it and we play all the time. The reference cards are SO helpful! Wonderful for kids that love strategy games.

This set is geared to a variety of ages and is well constructed. I liked the packaging that is kid friendly but not so childish. All pieces, cards and dice were included in the box as advertised. The pieces are make of wood and come in a case that unfolds to become a board. Because of this design it is compact and easy to store when space is limited. My favorite part of the board are the icons that help with piece placement. I am a complete novice when it comes to chess and these icons helped me get it set up to start playing with my children. My husband, who is the chess player in the family, liked the design and feel of the pieces. My children, 3 and 6, were drawn immediately to it and wanted to play a game right away. The cards were helpful to explain basic moves and concepts. My youngest was successful in play with the use of the dice. My 6 year old was successful in playing multiple games against her father and loved it. If you are on the fence about purchasing this product, I do highly recommend it. I was a little concerned about the price being higher then other sets but upon getting the set, the construction and layout is worth the money. This was a great gift for grandchildren; ages 6 on up to 11. Good way to introduce the game to beginners.

We purchased this for my 4 year old son who was starting to show interest in learning chess (saw other kids playing on YouTube Kids). Within about 6 months, he had the basics down. Now that he is 5, we regularly play chess using this set most weekends!! Not only that, but he pulls this game out over all of the other board games in the cabinet. Truly remarkable to see his mind learn how to predict moves, protect his king, and try to out-think me. Absolute A+ Chess Set!!! Would highly recommend for a child in pre-school or kindergarten!

It really grabbed my kids (8&5yrso) attention and they love the interactive lessons too. They see chess as a fun and exciting game thanks to this great set.

Very functional and good value for the money

The instructions are incredibly helpful! A few of us were new at chess and the instructions made it very clear, it was very convenient. I also love how compact it is. The board folds and the pieces have their own pouches that fit inside. We take it on vacations with us.

Very disappointed with the quality! We paid 85dollars! It smells horribly strong, paint is bad, figures are all inequal size! The board is all creepy. It is so poorly made with cheap wood. I would never have such a creepy item in my kids collection.unfortunatelly we can't return, because it was a Santa's gift. I should have opened it, but I would never think that someone is so shameless to sell such a horrible product for 85 dollars.
