Q: does water flow from 2 inch to 1 1/2 inch side? Can water flow be reversed?

Hi Jim,The Jandy check valve (7235) is a directional check valve to only allow water flow to move in one direction. When the pump turns off, the springs shut the flapper to prevent the water from back siphoning. This valve can be plumbed with either 1-1/2" or 2" plumbing.Thanks for reaching out. I would suggest you look up the model of your valve on line and then look in the Jandy parts list, online.

Q: What is the id for this valve (i.e what od of pipe would this valve slip over)?

Kevin, This Check valve is a 1.5"/2" port. This will take a 1.5 pvc pipe into the port or you can put a 2" coupler or 90 over the outside of the check valve.
