I removed it, thinking that I could just leave the chain on the 2nd ring up front. Everytime he would jump off a curb, the chain would jump to the smallest ring- then it would jump off the rings completely with another jump off a curb. So annoying! This jump chain stop fixed the problem perfectly, AND it has enough adjustment to keep the chain on the 2nd and even the 3rd ring. I thought I would be stuck on the smallest ring, so the range of adjustment was a very nice surprise. No matter how hard you bash on the bike or whatever gear you choose for the rear, the chain stays put. I give this device 5 stars for being simple and perfectly effective. Check out the pics..... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems effective... so far *by D***D on July 27, 2016* I've only had this for a day but so far it seems to work. I got this for a 1x even though that's not the intended purpose.I recently converted my older hardtail mountain bike to 1x8 for the same of simplicity, and because I used the middle chain ring about 98% of the time anyway. However after switching the chain kept falling off on moderately bumpy downhill sections every time I rode the bike, which was especially annoying because the way the chain ring I have is designed made it difficult to pull the chain out too. I should probably get a new chainring designed for 1x, but for now I didn't feel like dropping the $$$.Anyway, I looked at some other chain guides like the ones from MRP and I couldn't understand why a simple plastic/metal part should cost over $50, so I went with this one instead. I've only used it once so far but it was very easy to install and it seems to work. It feels durable despite only being $10. I went on a short 3 mile ride today on a trail that's pretty bumpy and the chain did not fall off this time, even when I hit the downhill sections with some speed! So I think it's a success.
