Molecular and Cellular Biology of Viruses

One of the most important and incredibly well-written scientific texts ever written.Dr Lostroh has created a detailed, highly organized blueprint based on the forefront of current knowledge for future bioscientists on which to expand on and discover vast areas not yet explored. If you are entering the field of virology or any even remotely related science you need this book.

I purchased this book to give me general background for a project. It met my needs and then some. Very well-organized and readable with key points well highlighted. Readers with a good background in molecular and cellular biology will probably find it easy going. As for myself, I do not have such a background, so some sections of text were a pretty hard scramble. I found myself doing a lot of concurrent reading. It was worth the effort. Recommended.

i have biology, biophysics and electrical engineering in my education background.. they have certainly helped me in reading the book. however the author takes pains to help the reader understand the topic deeper than one would initially expect. the pictures are most helpful.. scary book, but so are viruses..

This is an enormous field from which the author has carefully chosen a wide range of illustrative topics. Overall it is well written, well illustrated and really a tour de force.

Good quality new in plastic wrap book

I liked this book because it was timely and current. My old virus books were dated. Very useful for this time.

This elegant, beautifully written textbook fills an important niche in covering material useful for upper-level undergraduates as well as for early-level graduate students. The figures and supplemental material are superb and extremely helpful. I cannot recommend this textbook enough.
