Lucky Line Extra Large Magnetic Key hider Case Key Holder for Large Keys (9121)

Now I must say I did not use this for a large car key! It is used for a regular store or house key, so would not be under a tire well or bumper so I can not tell you if it stays put or not under those conditions. But it stays hidden where I have it and has not been jarred loose. the box is actually big enough for several keys so it you needed more than one lock and hidden keys for each, this is big enough. it is easy to open and easy to put back in place, no complaints from me.

The magnet is strong so it can be placed on a vertical metal wall or attach to the underside of a metal shelf. The case easily holds the 3 keys I put into it. I keep it as a backup in case I forget the primary keys, so I don't open and close it at all. It seems sturdy if you plan on using it often. It's pretty easy to hide if you have metal furniture. I'd recommend it for it's intended purpose.

Not entirely sure how to rate this key hider. The negatives include a number of things. The sliding door is pretty easy to open, it doesn't seem real secure. The magnets are only moderately strong, and mounted loosely so that the plastic box jiggles a bit even when the magnets are gripping. Annoyingly, the permanent "Key Hider" logo prominently lets anyone who sees it know what it is. All that being said, I stuck it under the truck and drove around for a few days and it remained in place. So I put my key in it and we'll see how it does over time. I will say that since I have a truck, it was easy to find a flat spot on the top of the frame which was fairly secure. You might have a harder time finding a good spot in a typical unibody vehicle. (Mounting in a stationary location like outside your house would be fine.) I'll def update this review if it fails, so however much time has passed since I wrote this review is how long it has lasted. Update: In the month since I've had it, I drove about 1000mi including 50 miles of rough dirt roads, and the box is still where I attached it to the frame. So far so good!

Works great

I have several of these on my SUV in case one or more fall off. They don't feel as strong as neodymium magnets but I've never had one fall off. Have had to use one of them just once... and it was a lifesaver! I'd suggest putting your keys in a small thick poly bag that seals and then give a healthy squirt of WD40, then seal the bag and put in in the case. The keys, years later, come out clean with no corrosion or road dirt and sand on them. It's an extra step but 100% worth it.

I ordered this because it was a larger size than a previous hide-a-key that I had bought from a different seller. I was pleased with the size of it but if you’re wanting to hide it on something metal (like the tire well on my car) you would be better off using a wad of gum. I contacted the sellers who suggested I drill a hole and secure it with a nut and bolt. ?? Isn’t that the magnets are for? The first one I bought (from a different seller) stuck like glue, no way it was going to fall off. So, it’s not the surface that’s in question, it’s the strength of the magnets. No offer to refund or replace. If you buy this, start chewing a BIG wad of gum, I’m just saying.

Works well on magnetic material. The container is a little bigger, which is nice.

It seems good, it will definitely hold a larger, non-fob style key (probably several keys). Was disappointed with the 2 magnets on the rear - was thinking they would be rare earth magnets but instead are cheap magnets like what would hold a glass door on a TV stand or a vent cover on a floor grate. We're planning on using it outdoors in a covered space so we'll see what the elements would do to it.
