where are the instructions ,which pad to use for what job?????

These are light duty pads for smaller jobs, like motorcycles or guitars. The yellow wool pad is for heavy "cutting"; removing heavy oxidation and scratches. Usually used with a polishing compound, slow to medium speeds. The white wool pad is for lighter cutting with a less aggressive compound. The yellow foam pad is usually used with something like a swirl remover or very light scratches. The black pad is the least aggressive and is used with a final polish or wax. Mine didn't come with "instructions" either, but then none of the machine pads I've used have come with instructions. For more detailed instructions, you can do a quick search on YouTube for detailing techniques.

Could you use this to clean water spots off glass?

I suppose you could, but I wouldn't recommend it. It depends on what you're using it on. If it's automotive glass, you could risk damaging the lamination in the glass if you overheat it. And worse, if you use too harsh of an abrasive you could wind up with swirls in the glass you'd have to look through. Just received and used on the plastic windows on jeep wrangler, looks good. question, how do i clean these pads for reuse?

I cleaned the by hand with dishwashing liquid and dried slowly inside the house near a lamp

What does the smaller bracket go to, there is two large?

The bracket is for a drill extension and a backing plate is for the pads. This set can be used with a drill , but do not use at high speeds because it will cause marring and possibly burn through the paint . The backing plate can also attach to some smaller DA polishers. Light pressure if you can . This is a great tool to remove some small minor scratches on the go. Can also apply polish and wax to smaller areas without having to take out a larger polisher , etc.

I bought to remove deep scratches in the dark paint of a '01 Jeep Cherokee. I found that my cordless drill wasn't powerful enough to push the foam polishing pads, so I used the corded drill with excellent results. The wool pads were used on the alloy wheels and did a remarkable job also. The Velcro hook-and-loop backing and the quality of the pads are very good. Great set!

I have bought several sets of these pads. They are great for polishing out small areas. The best thing about them is that the edges of the pads cover the velcro adapter completely so you will not scratch your finish. For the people complaining about the wool pads shedding that is completely normal when using any type of wool buffing pad and will stop after a while. When someone breaks out a full sized wool pad at the body or detail shop, trust me, everyone in the shop knows it...there are fibers floating everywhere for a while. If you can't deal with it then only use the foam pads.

Almost sent this back

I would have sent this back but I like the one buffing pad. All the other pads shed really bad all over your project. I won't be using those pads but the black one is good and the machine works good so I kept that part.

Decent for the money

Does what it is supposed to do. I use these to buff up car headlights after sanding them.
