Fristaden Lab Vacuum Filtration Apparatus 2000mL

I’ve used it once and it worked flawlessly! No leaks, perfect filtering. I filtered 270ml of an MCT based oil thru it. Sealed great and pulled a vacuum up to 25psi.

Great quality, and works well. I am happy I found a good set of vacuum filter glassware.

When I ordered this, I was suspicious that the product quality would be poor given the fact that the price was less than 1/6th that of better known brands. I was pleasantly surprised to see that everything in the kit was superior to what I'm used to seeing with better known brands. For example, the wall of the filter funnel was heavier than with other products and the top of the funnel had a well rounded top rim that should prolong the life of the funnel. Chipping of the glass at the top edge of the funnel is a common failure mode with more expensive versions. The assembly worked flawlessly without any leakage issues. Leakage is a common problem with products of this type costing much more. I highly recommend this product.

Works good

This thing really takes the hassle out of cleaning up from a vacuum filtration. The clamped funnel design is quite clever and versatile, and makes it easy to use a filter paper of a wide range of sizes (or no paper, if you just want to use the glass frit). I often need to clean my frits with strong chemicals, especially potassium hydroxide, in order to get stubborn organic residues out of them. With a normal filter funnel, I always end up doing some kind of weird balancing act to get the stuff to slowly percolate through the frit, but with this thing, I can just put the lower part of the filter upside-down in a beaker and let it soak, which is great. I definitely recommend this if you do a lot of vacuum filtration.

Barb size listing, instead of “universal”, would have saved a handful of follow-up purchases.

Everything came intact, didn’t come with any rubber hose to use for the vacuum function. Haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet but will soon but can’t see why their will be any problems!
