No issues thus far! It’s a strong, consistently dependable motor, powerful and holds the charge for a long while….. it does take a surprising number of hours to charge, yet I know this and take the time to charge it a day ahead of use. I don’t doubt others have had issues with theirs, as there’s usually problems with most products from time to time. I would not hesitate to purchase this motor, knowing how well it has been operable for me. I use it constantly rather than occasionally, so it has had a good work out. Tops! Review: Bad product and horrible support - I purchased this from Naples Outfitters in Florida. They ordered it and it sat on their shelf until I bought it. As soon as I opened the box I noticed that the motor was turned 3-4 degrees off center. A definite manufacturing error. I called Naples Outfitters and emailed photos that clearly showed the problem, and got little or no action from them. I finally called Hobie myself and was told to return the unit to Naples Outfitters. Two weeks later, after hearing nothing, I called and asked for an update. I was told they hadn't heard anything from Hobie. (Nice job of follow up on their part) Finally word came back from Hobie that they would do nothing because the product was out of warranty. Apparently they time the unit sat on the dealer's shelf counted towards the warranty. Great way of doing business. I argued a little longer but got nowhere. Hobie customer service wanted nothing to do with it. Were it my business I would have wanted the product returned so I could see how something like that was allowed to leave the factory. Because the whole thing was so inefficient because of the turned propeller, I decided to see if it was a problem that could be repaired so I figured out how the unit was put together and disassembled it myself. What I found in the process shocked me. The assembly of the motor, shaft, and footwell units showed no engineering or quality control whatsoever. It had the look of something that was made in some third rate mechanic shop. The parts were sloppily machined and offered no possibility of adjustment. I determined exactly how to correct the problem and was able to fix it myself using nothing more than a battery powered drill, ruler, and flat file. The motor is now perfectly straight. I've used it and the performance is noticeably better. But I only got two years from it and got a error 42,not a good value for your money, error 42 is bad news the repair job can cost about $900.00 because it’s out of warranty.
