Terrific Toaster
This Hamilton Beach toaster works as it should: it toasts bread. The features are common and work well. I especially like that the length of the slots are 5-1/2” so that custom store bought breads fit. Most conventional toasters are in the 5” or less range. Heat radiates out the top and very little out the sides as expected. Level 3-4 toasts bread nicely. As far as other features, the cord length is reasonable, chrome color fits in any setting, the size is better than average, the time to toast is 1-2 mins at levels 3. And the cost is on par considering our country has a current inflation rate of 7.5% at the time of this review. I like this toaster & would recommend.

Decent toaster for the price, could hold thin slices more securely
My old toaster gave up the ghost and I didn’t want to spend ton of money, but I wanted a stainless finish and decent performance. It the toasts pretty well, although when toasting sliced bread any thinner than a normal slice (rye breads or flatbread, for instance), the mechanism that holds each slice in place doesn’t close fully, leaving each slice space to tilt to one side or another. This results in slightly uneven toasting, although if you flip the slice around and tilt the other way mid-toast, you can work around it. A bit of a hassle, but not worth docking more than one star at this price. It does look nice though, and it’s very simple to operate.

Satisfactory toaster. Does the job.
After one month of use, so far so good. All functions perform as they should. As opposed to the CuisinArt toaster that we tried twice we are very happy with this purchase.

Doesn't toast evenly
We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and I wanted to get rid of my ugly white toaster and get a retro looking toaster. After researching many toasters I decided on this one. I love the way it looks on my counter top. Even though the kitchen isn't done yet. It is a lot lighter than I was expecting but not a problem. But as you can see it doesn't toast evenly. All of the bread was toasted on Number 4 setting. I am showing both sides, the first two were exactly the way we like are toast. I did two more just to test it to see if it was consistent. The second two came out much lighter than the first two. I am hoping it will improve after I use it a little more. Because I love the look of the toaster my husband even said it looked good and he never pays attention to things like that. I will try to give an update after I use it longer. Update... this is a guessing game to see what color of toast you are going to get. I have used this toaster on the same setting #3 for over 2 weeks. Every time it comes out it is a different shade of color. It's a good thing we all like are toast different. I get the darker ones my husband likes his a little lighter and my granddaughter likes hers really light. Once in awhile it comes out almost burnt. It has become like a little game with are granddaughter to see who can guess the color closest. On the plus side it looks great on my counter 😉

Finally a Toaster That Works
We've had quite a few toasters over the years, and this toaster has the rest of them beat. We love the "wide mouth" on it, so that we can toast bagels, English muffins, small waffles, etc, in addition to bread. The cooking time settings actually allow you to determine how well done your bread is. You can lightly toast, or if you prefer, take your bread all the way to blackened. The heating elements seem to cook both sides completely, and evenly.

You don't have to pay $100+ for an excelent toaster !
I bought this toaster after spending almost $130 for a Breville that lasted 6 weeks before totally not working ! HB toaster is doing everything promised and I am totally satisfied - for over half the cost of the Breville. Fully recommend this Hamilton Beach toaster.

Best of the rest...
My toaster of over 10 years finally died and it was time to replace it. No big deal right? Wrong. Especially if you want a toaster made in the USA or anywhere but CHINA. Could not find a single toaster made anywhere outside of China. Of course you can pay $300 plus for a Wolf and other expensive options but even most of those are CHINESE!!!! I wanted a solid built toaster which felt sturdy. Was not looking for a cheap replacement. After trips to BedBathBeyond, Best Buy and ordering 3 others on Amazon I finally found this Hamilton Beach. Hands down the best of all the others sold at the above mentioned stores. Handle feels sturdy and goes down solid. The knob also feels solid and well-built. G.E., Cuisinart. Oster, KitchenAid and some others all felt and/ or looked cheap compared to this Hamilton Beach model. Only used a few times but so far toasting is even and cancel button works. Hope it lasts half as long as my previous toaster (no longer made).
