Nature's Way HeartCare Hawthorn Standardized Extract, Promotes Healthy Heart Function*, Gluten free, 120 Tablets (Packaging May Vary)

I've been taking Hawthorn berry extract for some time now. But it was part of a multi supplement that contained a very small dose of it. I decided to beef up the Hawthorne dose after reading so much here and other places online about its success in larger doses for high blood pressure. I decided to stop making my doctor rich and leave all the BS I was putting up with behind quite a while ago and treat my high BP naturally. I have been very successful with it for some time now. But I am always looking for and adjusting the dosages and brands of natural treatments to see if there is a better, and perhaps cheaper alternative. I've been on this Natures Way Hawthorn extract for about a month now and it has been working great. In fact its working so well that I have even been able to cut the dose I was taking in half. It's powerful stuff indeed for a natural supplement, and I suggest caution if you are new to a natural treatment of high BP, and/or new to Hawthorne berry. As stated before, I am no newbie to to natural treatment, and am well knowledgeable on other popular supplements for high BP such as garlic bulb, lycopene, apple cider vinegar, and CoQ10. If you decide to try this Hawthorne extract, or Hawthorne berry under any other brand, I strongly suggest you start off with the smallest dose and keep track of your BP readings. Then add to it if needed. Work yourself up to the proper dose and be especially careful if you are mixing this with a prescription medication. (I don't suggest anyone on a prescription med stop taking it as they experiment with new natural remedies. Keep careful track of your BP and ween yourself off the prescription slowly, if you are successful enough to do so). In conclusion, this Natures Way brand is one of the freshest and best priced Hawthorne extract supplements on the market in my opinion. Its always available here on Amazon, and is just the right strength to really experiment with your dosage. And best of all it's been very effective for me, as well as many other reviewers here. I highly recommend it indeed... : )

I have been using this product for 4 years now and thought I would come back and FINALLY leave a review. I have been leaving a ton of reviews lately because of getting things at a discount and so I figured I would leave some reviews on things I actually bought, like this. I bought this product to help lower my heart rate and blood pressure. It does both. I used my first bottle and moved on to my second bottle, both purchased from Amazon because Amazon has the best value on this product. I recommend this to those who need to lower their heart rate a little or blood pressure. It is not a miracle product, but it does help .... along with eating correctly and if you really want to lower your heart rate, I recommend running. That worked even more than these little capsules. The extract in Heart Care appears to be the same one used in numerous studies available in abstract on pubmed. Unconcentrated hawthorn powder can have a relaxing quality, I find. This extract does not do that. The pills are very small and easy to swallow. Hawthorn takes quite a while to show results, usually a month to six weeks, so you have to keep it up. However, it can be used for a lifetime to nourish the heart muscle. At the higher recommended dosage, 6 per day, it apparently will help reverse atherosclerosis. I give this to my husband to keep his heart in shape (in addition to other supplements), because I do think it is effective, and because at the higher dose it is easier for me to get him to swallow 6 pills, since they are small. So why do I give this only four stars? Probably because for me-I have a slight arrhythmia from a scar on my heart stemming from a very bad bout with red measles at age 6-arjuna (terminalia arjuna, an ayurvedic tonic derived from the bark of a tree) is far more effective at calming and steadying my heart beat.

Am in my 60's and had been experiencing palpitations and/or arrhythmias fairly often (even more so during pollen season.) This went on for several years; my EKGs were all normal and I do not take or need BP meds. I decided to try Hawthorn. As I thoroughly research supplements, I was impressed when reading about this particular brand: "HeartCare contains the actual Hawthorn extract used in research studies. It supports efficient heart muscle metabolism by helping improve its oxygen and energy utilization. Contains 18.75% Oligomeric Procyanidins (OPCs) - While many other Hawthorn extracts contain Vitexin from the plants berries, HeartCare is standardized to oligomeric procyanidins extracted from the leaves and flowers for optimal effectiveness." I take just one a day and have had zero palpitations in a year of using these. FYI, OPCs are excellent free radical scavengers and are also very good for eye health and the relief of pain and swelling of the legs caused by chronic venous insufficiency. As I've begun developing symptoms of the latter, I will be upping my dose to 2-3 tabs per day...up to 6 tabs/day can be taken. (If I remember, I will update this review in a few months re the leg issue.)

I just took one and my flutters literally calmed, like what?!?! I’m hopeful that these will help with my atrial fibrillation. Will update if it doesn’t. As for the pills, good quality… smell very earthy. Easy to swallow. 👍
