Never had any issues replacing gelatine with this vegan alternative, its actually usually a little stronger in my experience so you may need to use less but its just a matter of experimenting with whatever youre making. Ive even added a pinch to vegan stews that are suppose to be meaty and it does a good job making the texture glossier and more like when gelatine has been cooked out of meat or bones in the stew. Cant say ive ever noticed a brand difference but this stuff was good.

It is no wonder that it smells and tastes like seaweeds as agar agar is made from red algea (seaweed). It is not tastless nor odorless, but if you like seaweed then it's ok. When I smell it I feel like on the beach. The liquid or food you use with this agar agar must be very aromatic to overpower the taste of seaweed.
