Perfect Everyday Fountain Pen for Art, Travel and Writing
I was looking for a fountain pen to keep in my art/travel bag, and this HongDian pen turned out to be exactly what I needed. It’s not too big or too small, not too heavy or too light—just the perfect balance in both size and weight. The metal body gives it a sturdy, high-quality feel and the overall design is clean and aesthetically pleasing. One of the biggest perks is that it comes with its own converter, allowing you to use any ink you like. I’ve noticed that many fountain pens require you to buy a converter separately, so having it included is a great bonus. I also appreciated the wide variety of colors and nib options to choose from: everything from extra fine to broad, plus the fude nib. I went with the matte black design and the fude nib, which has a bent tip that makes it easy to achieve expressive line variation from thin to thick. It’s a fantastic option for sketching, calligraphy or general writing. If you’re looking for a well-constructed, stylish fountain pen that won’t break the bank, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

(Much) Better than expected
Excellent pen. The fude nib is smaller/finer than the Sailor fude de mannen pen (which I love). This pen writes and draws beautifully- really impressed. I can easily get lines as fine as any of my “F” nib pens and just as easily I can get wide, broad lines that are like a fat sharpie marker. And it’s a “fast” pen too- no skipping or dryness. Update: been drawing with this pen for days now. It’s rly incredible. It’s the BEST drawing pen I’ve ever used. (And I own abt 8 now, most 2 or 3 times the price of this one!) This pen feels almost like drawing with a brush. Ink flow is fantastic. The fude nib requires almost zero pressure. It is effortless to lay down lines. I love it so much I bought another one.

Great Fude Nib pen, with one Issue
I really enjoy this pen. It has a great weight to it so that when I am sketching with it, it is not too heavy or too light. I love the fude nib and the in flow is great. It is the pen I carry with me most often. One thing I was saddened by after taking it out with me on location this weekend is the coating started to chip or peel off in a few spots. This did not happen from me dropping it. One part looks like a scratch, but the others it just seems to be peeling off. There wasn’t anything specifically that caused this. As I said, I didn’t drop it or anything. Not sure why this has started to happen. I would not have expected that having only had the pen a month and a half If you don’t mind the scratching, I would encourage you to try this pen. I love everything else about it. My hope is that it will not continue to peel now that it has started.

A nice pen at a reasonable price
I really enjoy writing with the bent nib. Because of the thickness of the nib, it lays down a lot of ink, so it takes awhile to dry. That’s ok, as the results are worth waiting for. The bent nib can have a lot of character to the line which makes your writing really unique. It only comes with an ink converter so I order the ink cartridges separately. It writes very smooth. I am very happy with my purchase.

This is a good, solid pen
This is an under-represented pen in its category. It was smaller than I expected from the images and videos, but it is not exactly small, I just expected something slightly larger. After the initial cleaning and filling, it writes very evenly and consistently, though the line seems a trifle heavy for a 'fine' fude nib. Let me be plain, none of these comments are complaints or criticisms, just observations. Be sure pump a few barrels of filtered or distilled water through it before filling it with ink. I got t he black that was recommended and made by the same parent company.

A good pen for left handers
I am so happy I purchased this pen. For many years I have had a love-hate relationship with fountain pens, I have always wanted to use one and have always had problems doing so, being left-handed the ink would always smear. I think the difference with this fountain pen is the nib, for some reason it just makes it easier for me to see what I’m doing without smearing everything, I purchased the brushed Black Forest pen with the fude nib. The weight of the pen is great, it has a little bit of weight to it, but not enough to get uncomfortable when writing. The one I purchased has slight texture around the barrel which makes it easier to hold. It’s just an all-around great pen. I use it for writing letters, writing in my journal, and even for sketching. I have been using Platinum black fountain pen ink with it.

Unreliable ink flow, too much pressure required to get it to function.
The ink flow to the bent nib is unreliable. You have to pres hard on the paper to get it to write, ruining the smooth flow you're looking for in a fountain pen. I've spent a few hours trying to get it to work properly, priming it, working through multiple script types and pressures with poor results. I'd return it, but having put so much ink through it I doubt it would be acceptable. I'll save it for doing calligraphy art, I guess. I can use it for filling in lettering or something.

klingt gut müsste aber heißen fein oder breit. Optisch durchaus ansprechbar

PROS • Comfortable to hold and use • Lid closure is firm • Bent nib option writes nicely CONS • Like many pens, the pocket clip is too tight. When I tried to pull it out a bit so it would fit over my pocket, the clip broke off. OVERALL Writes nicely and feels good in the hand, but build quality is a concern based on the flimsy pocket clip.

Great pen, same Fude tip as Hongdian. 5-7D was out of stock and turns out Asvine is probably the same Co if not same manufacturing as Hongdian. Bought it to replace the Sailor Fude bcs it dries out quickly if you don’t use it for a while. Seal on the cap is not tight I guess.

I was expecting the pen to break but its actually cleanable and the nib is fine enough for long term use the (aluminium coat paint seems a bit bothersome for wear and tear though)
