You don't want to waste any of it's active time for tattoos
This stuff really works for getting a tattoo! It has to be used properly though; my tattoo artist gave me some direction, which isn't really on the bottle... 1. Apply one hour before tattoo appointment. (If the artist is going to have to spend time drawing your tattoo first, then maybe a half hour before you get there. You don't want to waste any of it's active time.) 2. Use saran wrap to cover the area, and tape it on. Make sure it's completely air tight in order for it to work properly. It's very helpful to have a second pair of hands to help with this. 3. Let the tattoo artist remove it when it's time. If you didn't put it on too soon, than this should give you 1-2 hours of basically painless tattooing. When I used this, the artist started and asked "How does that feel?" -I was very surprised. I could barely feel anything at all, he might as well have been drawing on me with a pencil! I hope it works as well for you. I'm def gonna use it for my next tattoo. FYI the bottle is really small but should cover most tattoos.

Topicaine rocks!
Now that I have 2 kittens, their nails grow REALLY fast. I’ve gotten slices and cuts from them on my lower legs and hands. Topicaine helps the stinging feel better right away. I’ve been using topicaine for years now. I tried the Uber numbing cream, it did absolutely nothing for me. I would highly recommend Topicaine, which starts working within seconds of application, thank goodness!

Topicaine 5% - non anesthetic gel
I bought this gel hoping that it would alleviate my pain when waxing. I didn't feel ANY better using this gel. I wasn't expecting to don't feel any pain, but I was expecting to the waxing process be less traumatic than normally. I'm used to wax myself but the pain is a drawback when thinking about waxing. Unfortunately, this gel didn't work for me. At all. I tried on different parts (armpit, bikini, upper lip), I followed the instructions (waited for 40 min - 1h to start waxing) and even so it didn't help at all. Another point is that it's too expensive for a little bit of gel. If it had worked, I could use it one more time (bikini + armpit + upper lip) and would have to buy another one. I wouldn't recommed this product for someone who wants to try it for waxing purposes, like me. You will be disappointed with the money you spent and the pain you feel!

Works eventually
First thing to note: the lid on this is obnoxious. It's one of those push-and-turn lids that are supposed to be child proof. Why does it matter? Because the tube is thick plastic that, when you grasp it to turn-and-push the lid, causes the medication to squirt out. It's the consistency of a very watery gel. This stuff is like liquid gold, I don't want to spill a drop, so it's a major flaw as far as I'm concerned. As for the medication itself; it's ok. It's the first topical lidocaine that hasn't worked immediately (or almost) upon application. It kind of stings if you're applying it to something like a mosquito bite. I bought this because I have terribly itchy ear canals and I've used all sorts of medications, both oral and topical and lidocaine is the only thing that stops the incessant itching so I can sleep, work, study, etc. It does take time to work (more than 20 minutes) but it works long enough for me to get to sleep. The price is outrageous though, which is why I refuse to buy any more and found something with the same amount of lidocaine, much bigger (yellow) tube for half the price that works fast.

Might deaden skin in more ways than pain
It really killed the pain of an ingrown toenail, BUT I used it daily for almost a week and the skin where I applied died and peeled off in thick chunks. It was not painful, sort of like the way a popped blister's surface might come off after drying out, only thicker. I have not used it anywhere else, so am not sure if the toenail caused part of that problem or not, but I had a "Zombie Toe" for a while until the skin grew back.

Amazing!!! Worked great for both piercing and tattoos!!!!
Used to pierce my belly button and tonight for my first tattoo. Put on a nice thick layer, covered with tegaderm so it won't dry out or rub off, waited one hour, then wiped away excess with an alcohol wipe to make sure the area was good and clean. Didn't feel the needle at all with the piercing, then only felt pressure (actually tickled a lil at times lol) until the very end of the tattoo process then just a bit of stinging. This stuff is amazing. The people who say it doesn't work must not be leaving it on and covering it long enough or their skin just isn't absorbing it.

Not nearly as helpful as EMLA (2.5 prilocaine/2.5 lidocaine) cream
I bought this to help with lessening the pain of a tattoo. I had previously used EMLA cream (2.5% Lidocaine, 2.5% Prilocaine) so I was hoping for a similar result. I used this lidocaine cream on my leg, covered it in plastic wrap (occlusive dressing) and waited for 2 hrs. It did numb the skin, but it wore off within 15-20 minutes of removal of the wrap. With EMLA cream, I had an effect that typically lasted about 2 hours. I would not buy this product for tattoo assistance again. It may be beneficial for short term numbing, but not for tattoos. If you are in the market for something to assist with reducing pain for your tattoos, ask your doctor to give you a prescription for EMLA cream.

I put this on about an hour before getting a large tattoo on the back of my calf and the results were pretty impressive. My leg wasn't completely numb but it definitely took a lot of the edge off. This made getting tattooed in a sensitive area much more bearable. I'm going to use this for all future tattooes. And it's made in the USA!
