Not as picture
Not that it makes any difference to the way it works, but I was disappointed that - instead of the hummingbird as pictured - there was a teddy bear on the item I received.

They work well. Hold 4 grams of water.
I looked into these at the request of my MIL. I ordered three. One for her, one for us, another for a future gift. They arrived in one piece. No smell. They absorb about 4 grams of water per my kitchen scale. They seem to work exactly as advertised for our small bag of brown sugar.

These actually work
This product worked well to soften up a giant, hard-as-a-rock Costco bag of brown sugar. I bought two, soaked them and stuck them in the tightly closed bag. Next day, complete transformation, sugar was soft as when new. They were a little expensive for what you get (they are quite small, which is why I bought 2; not sure if this was necessary), but I liked that they are made in the US. Also, one of them has a crack in it, looks like it happened when it was fired. Not worth the hassle of returning. Hopefully it won't break.

Really works!
This really worked to soften my rock hard brown sugar. It was quite amazing that this little piece of terra cotta could do that. I had an extra large bag of brown sugar that I had bought from Costco that had sat around to long and gotten hard. It was so hard that I had to chisel off pieces. But this little piece of terra cotta softened the whole thing like it was fresh from the store.
