Kinsa Smart Ear

We have the ear thermometer and it is the niftiest thing! I love that you connect it to an app and it will keep track of the last time it was used, what the temp was, who it was used for, what their symptoms are, and suggests care options. I feel like I get an accurate reading each time.Having a sick kid or being sick yourself can be stressful and this eases some of those details that can easily be forgotten (last time temp was taken and what it was, the last time meds were taken, etc.) and displays them in a timeline in the app.The app is easy to use and keeps everything in one place and is sorted by family member. You can add notes, reminders, a diagnosis, medications, and symptoms. It also tells you what illnesses are going around in your area, if you choose to opt in on that feature. You can also add your child’s school if they participate in using the app.Even if you don’t use the app, this is still a great tool to have in your medicine cabinet! It is absolutely worth every penny!

This is the second one I've had. The first one started to read very low, though I kept the sensor clean. The warranty is way over on the first one. Let's hope that the new one lasts longer.The new one works great!

This is my second thermometer by this brand. I have the oral/axillary thermometer ABs it’s amazing. Accurate, reliable, synced to my app. It’s great! I have a 2 yr old and I wanted to use this cause it’s easier than an axillary temp and he’s too young to do an oral temp. It synced up easy with my phone but when I felt my son get a fever, it was reading anywhere from 99-102. Way too big of a range. I’m a nurse and I know how to use a thermometer. Thankfully I had their axillary thermometer. One star for this one, five stars for the axillary/oral version!

Now that kiddos are older, it’s soooo much easier to take a temp in the ear instead of rectally. Love that the screen is backlit for the late night temp checks in the dark. Easily switch between C & F. Syncs with the app. No silly disposable plastic covers to lose or buy more. Only improvement would be a little light on the end to see the ear for late night checks when kiddo is asleep and lights are out.Overall, great job Kinsa!

I love this thermometer so much. I love that it pairs to your phone. I love the app that asks you about other symptoms and tells you if you should be talking to a Dr based on the symptoms presenting. I love it so much that I bought the oral thermometer as well so I can have two forms of temperature taking when my kid gets sick. I don’t like the fact that right after I bought and had already used it I found it $15 cheaper at Best Buy.

I wish it didn’t require setting up with a phone. I don’t know how complicated it will be and then if I will be the only one who can use it. I didn’t read enough about it when ordering.Okay, so here’s an update: After posting this review, I read the instructions very carefully and found that you can actually use it without setting it up with your phone. I tried it on myself and it’s a little touchy, but I did get my temperature read after a couple failed attempts. I wrapped the instructions to it with an elastic, so we can read them whenever we need to take a temperature. I still don’t love it. I wish there were an easy, accurate way to take a child’s temperature, but I haven’t found one yet.

Whoah! Even after watching a video on Kinsa, I did not realize how informative this thermometer really is. You can create a profile for each family member and store temperatures and symptoms for easy reference at a doctors visit. It will even remind you when it’s time to give more fever reducer. In a quick, 1 second tympanic reading, I get peace of mind with accuracy and state of the art knowledge with the user friendly app. It provides location indicators so I know if an outbreak of illness is in our area. Try it, you won’t be disappointed! I am a nurse and have used many thermometers over the years and this by far, blows them all away!! My only regret is that this wasn’t around when my kids were little. Don’t hesitate, order this thermometer!!!

This thermometer scans fast within 1 second, accuracy is close within 0.1-0.5 error compare with my other head thermometer. Is simple to use if not for the ignoring app and limited features compare with other device out there.The ignoring issue I have using this is every time when is turn on it will show "APP" status, because it's always trying to connect to a mobile app. And there is no option to disable this if I don't want to use or connect it.It simply becomes very ignoring as you need to wait for it to be done or fail connection before using. I just want a quick simple scan without toggling it with some silly app on my phone. also why do I have to using the APP to get the most features out of this? why it can't do everything on the device ? It needs to have more than one button to access other information like other device on the market.Second issue is this can only scan on the ear not forehead or other objects, there are other device for cheaper and have more these feature than this. For something that state its 2019 upgrade, yet still behind the time with useful features when you don't want to use their app.
