The story telling holds up very well. An original classic in every sense. They simply don't make them like this anymore. Although at the time it was made, it would have been seen as gruesome, it's not anymore. The effects are decent for the time period. But it's not going to gross you out or have that bloody shock factor that some new movies seem to rely on these days. Several stories of the path that the people stuck in the crypt were about to take in their lives, and how it leads to their untimely end. Watch it all the way for the twist at the end! ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Classic Tales from the Crypt. *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2018* The original, old school Tales from the Crypt. Circa 1972. Very comic bookish anthology with one story being a complete rip off of The Monkey's Paw. Joan Collins features in the first story that happens at Christmas time, and early on you start to see plot discrepancies and that the Tales aren't actually portents of the future. Peter Cushing plays the kindly old rubbish man who is bullied into suicide by his neighbors. He's such a sweet character in this movie, you pray his tormentors get their comeuppance. Sir Ralph Richardson as the Cryptkeeper, not the skeleton version, but the original hooded monk one from the comic. As watchable as the series was, thou as a fair bit of warning, the little blood there is, looks like acrylic paint. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome horror anthology movie! *by T***A on Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2004* My only suggestion. Please put this out on dvd. I bought it on VHS tape now because I couldn't wait any longer. I was afraid it would go out of print. I love Sir Ralph Richardson as the crypt Keeper. One of my favorite episodes was the segment "Blind Alley". When inmates for the blind exact revenge on the evil manager in the most diabolical way. Patrick Magee is awesome! "All Through The House" is very memorable with Joan Collins and the homicidal maniac santa claus. Then there is "The Monkey's Paw" the end has twist to it.Other stories included in this wonderful horror anthology are: "Poetic Justice" (Peter Cushing) about a kindly old man who fixes toys and gives them to children and the mean neighbor who tries to get rid of him. "Reflection of Death"(Carl Maitland) about a buisness man who decides to leave his wife and kids for another woman.
