Updating to a 5 because the company immediately reached out and offered a full refund. Great customer service! Overall I like this product but giving it a 3 since the base stopped working about two months ago when my daughter was 7 months old. It still works plugged in but it’s ridiculous that the base only lasted 7 months, since that was a main reason I bought this product.

Quick version: I was going to give this a four star review, but our power went out last night for 6.5 hours and the hatch saved us from having a cranky and unrested baby. Which is worth SO much more than any of the negatives. Negative -not as loud as previous model -reactivity to touch not as good as previous model Positive -portable -long life backup battery Long version: We have the Hatch Rest and this version. The main reason I was knocking off a star was because this generation is not as loud as the Hatch Rest and the reactivity takes a few seconds in between switching the sound manually. That is all being compared to the previous model WITHOUT any kind of portable or backup battery option. This one can literally be picked up and moved at anytime and has a long backup battery! It doesn’t skip or anything when popped off the base or disconnect from power. Great for baby wearing and long car rides. I’m not sure if there is any other app based sound machine on the market that is loud and has a long battery life. Our power was off for 6.5 hours and the hatch was on 70% volume the whole time and with no light. We had no problem with getting it set up on the internet. We just had to get close to the router, but that’s pretty standard for any WiFi capable product. After you do it once, you don’t have to do it again, unless you connect it to a different wifi. We didn’t have the Hatch with the baby monitor like a lot of the reviews have mentioned. But we use an actual baby monitor with a camera, so we didn’t miss that feature.

If you’re on the fence about a Hatch+, do yourself a favor and either purchase it or place it on your registry. We did the latter, and received it at our first child’s baby shower and it has been used literally every night since! The best feature it provides is the ability to control and monitor from the Hatch App. You can totally customize the color and sound level on the device straight from your phone, set favorites for your kiddos favorite settings, and more! It doesn’t need to be plugged in to run, so you can also use in the car if your kiddos need a good ole fashioned car nap! This device also travels incredibly well. We take it on every vacation or weekend trip. My only gripe with the product is that when you’re staying in a hotel, it has trouble recognizing the majority of hotel WiFi networks due to their authentication systems they use. However, if you use your favorites wisely on the device, you should be able to manually select them after setup.

I’ve wasted so much time researching before buying the Hatch rest 2nd gen and the Hatch mini that I regret buying it in the first place. First of all, Amazon’s customer service fails to respect its clients’ time and money. The first time I ordered this, my baby was one month old and I was so excited to get this product, hoping it would help us sleep better. The product that I ordered never arrived, and even though I’ve contacted costumer service, I had to wait about 2 months to get my money back. It was useless to let them know that the parcel was delivered to someone else and that this person refused to release the parcel, practically stealing it from me. O even had proof and pictures of the conversation between myself and that person that was admitting to receiving my parcel and refusing to give it to me..Amazon just let that person keep the stuff that was paid for by me (they even sent her an email saying it was ok for her to keep it), all while letting me wait for months to get my money back. I was so desperate that my baby wasn’t sleeping, that I ended up ordering the same stuff again. This time, the parcel arrived, and I was so excited to get the Hatch products. Everything seemed fine, at first, even though I didn’t like the app and the fact that there is little free content to use. My baby got used to the routine and the song I played to prepare him to sleep and also slept to the white noise that came in handy when needed to cancel the noise that came from outside our home. After a couple of months I’ve noticed that the Hatch rest 2nd gen kept failing, disconnecting from the ei-fi and sometimes I could not use the touch ring to turn it on and I had to reset it or turn it on from the app. This was annoying, as it kept agitating my toddler while I was trying to get him to sleep. You can imagine it’s not great to keep getting your phone out while trying to put a toddler to bed. o” Now it got worse, the Hatch 2nd gen has a mind of its own, and it turns on an off, sometimes turning volume higher and waking up my kid. It’s a nightmare to use. Meanwhile, the hatch mini, which we started using instead, broke as well, and it won’t even charge anymore. O am sooo disappointed with these products as well as with Amazon’s customer service. The bad part is that my kid won’t fall asleep unless he hears the song that I used to play. I wrote this review before and Amazon did not punish it, flagging it for hate speech as I used a word to describe the fact that these products are worthless. O hope this review is not seen as profane and helps other customers make up their own mind about these poor quality but very expensive products

Easy to use and a must have for both of my kids . Love the digital clock display and it’s easy to use on my phone app . Not bulky and fits nicely on the dresser

As a new mom, I really had to look into what would be best for my son. Long story short- a lot of parents recommend this one and I understand why. I love the base charger and the option to go wireless. You do have to pay for a subscription on the app but it’s so nice to have control over light color and sound. Honestly, I would buy this for myself even if I wasn’t a mom.

Update: Hatch reached out, offered a full refund and looked into my issues from my account. They found that my Hatch was faulty and in addition to the refund, are providing me with a new hatch. Great customer service and glad to see the brand stands by their products. I was really excited to upgrade to the new Hatch sound machine and night light, especially since I absolutely loved the first version. Unfortunately, this new model has been a letdown in several ways. First and foremost, the sound quality and volume are noticeably weaker. Even at the highest setting, the sound doesn't fill the room the way the original did — which is a huge issue for anyone relying on it for consistent white noise throughout the night. Secondly, I’ve encountered frequent glitches and inconsistencies. Sometimes the app doesn’t connect properly, or it takes multiple tries for the machine to respond to commands. I’ve also had issues where the sound shuts off randomly or doesn’t switch to the right setting as scheduled, which totally defeats the purpose of having a reliable sleep aid, especially as it is being used for my newborn. Overall, this feels like a step backwards. I wish Hatch had maintained the quality and dependability of the original. For now, I’ve gone back to using my first-gen model, which thankfully still works perfectly. Disappointed this “upgrade” didn’t live up to expectations.

We love the Hatch sound machines! We have one in our room and one in both of our girl’s rooms. I love that they can be managed via the app or on the actual device. It’s very customizable (light and sound) without having to pay for any subscriptions. Highly recommend!
