ecowhides 100% Genuine Brazilian Cowhide Rug - Luxury Cowskin Leather Area Rug Decor (X-Large) 7 x 6 ft (Tricolor)

I purchased this cowhide rug to replace a dark chocolate brown shag rug that had been in my livingroom for almost a decade. It was kept clean and fluffed with a deep-pile rake vacuum hose attachment (similar to ASIN B075TCKGMV) so it still was serviceable, but it was still starting to fade and show its age, and was just due to be replaced. I originally seriously considered a light cream shag to replace it, but it just didn't seem practical to put such a light color in a high-traffic area. But at the same time, I did want to brighten things up a bit. That's when I found these cowhide rugs here on Amazon. I browsed through a whole bunch from different brands, put a few in my cart, and I kept bouncing back and forth between them re-reading the reviews, looking at customers' pics of theirs, and just trying to make up my mind if this was the best way to replace my aging shag. I finally decided on this Tri-Color by Pergamino. I did have the opportunity to communicate with eCowhides after seeing the response in the questions about contacting them after ordering to put in any requests for colors or patterns. Since I was looking to go a little lighter in the area, I asked for one with lighter colors if they had it, and the rep said they'd get that message out to the warehouse. Awesome! Yesterday was delivery day. I saw through tracking that it was out to be delivered by UPS, so I timed my trip over to my mailbox place (like UPS Store) so that I'd get there later in the afternoon about the time the UPS drop would arrive. Within a couple minutes of my arrival, the UPS truck drove up. A few minutes later, I was holding my box from eCowhides/Amazon. Out of excitement, I almost opened it there in the parking lot, but decided to wait til I got home. Once I got home, where I'd already prepared the livingroom for the new rug, I set the box down on the coffee table, and chuckled to myself when I thought "Schrodinger's Cow, just like the cat - sort-of". LOL There's a cow inside this box... once I open it will I like it? As long as the box stays closed, I don't know for certain, but as soon as I open it, I will - anticipation vs revelation. Carefully slit the tape and slid out the eCowhides bag, and opened it with my eyes closed. I could feel with my hands which side was the furry side up, so I unrolled it a bit where I was planning on putting it, stood up, and opened my eyes. There it is in the pics. Absolutely amazing! It's got some dark in there (which about matches the original color of the shag), some lighter brown, and some light cream (just like the new shag I was considering). It's so incredibly soft, and the color pattern is really beautiful. This was a handsome cow. Hasn't been named yet, but it'll come to me. Once I got it positioned the way I thought it fit best, I slipped the rug pad that was under the shag under it and trimmed it to the curves of the hide. I'm ordering a fresh one, but figured I'd at least get an idea what difference it would make. Seems like it's probably better with - it gives it just a hint of cushion. There was still someone else who need to approve though, but he dozed off on it within a few minutes, so I took that as a yes from him too. One thing I'll mention just in case it helps - mine came with some grey flakes stuck to the fur (close up pics). It's pretty obvious it's from the underside suede and just transferred from being folded and stored. I was unsuccessful in brushing it away (I've asked a question up there), I passed the shag vacuum attachment lightly over it just going with the natural grain of the fur, but that didn't work, so I decided to just leave it for the moment and ask. Today, though, I decided to take a chance at wiping it with a lightly damp cloth. I was a little nervous because I really didn't want to make things worse, but a couple passes just following the grain loosened it enough that it just wiped off and didn't leave the rug wet or anything. As for the smell. It's not strong, but it definitely has a leather smell to it. To me it smells good- kinda like a baseball glove or a jacket. Personally I don't find it overpowering, and it's toned down a bit since I first opened it up yesterday. We'll see about longevity, but for now, I'm very happy with the product and totally recommend it if a cowhide is what you're looking for. Will update if/when needed.

This is amazing hide. I would buy again when I need or want another one. It is really nice and great color. It was just what the pictures and stated it was. If you want it YES - buy it.

This cowhide rug is the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen. It’s absolutely perfect. Smells reals, the hair is amazing. I’m so in love. I will recommend and buy more for sure! I own a home interior store so this is so great for me to be able to buy more for my store and know the quality is superb. Shipping was an issue but, only because we had a big snow storm. I was so happy to see it today!!

I love the look and feel of this rug. It vacuums easily works well in my entrance hall. The only complaint is it takes a very long time to lay flat. Months and gently ironing the backing. I would be willing to pay for shipping to have packaging that prevents deep folds.

First, I purchased a black and white cow skin rug 2 years ago and I thought it was beautiful until I saw this one! OMG!!! What a difference! This skin is incredibly soft, much larger, and much less expensive than the other one I bought from a different company! The color combination is perfect for my color scheme! I am purchasing an ivory sofa and two cognac leather chairs…this rug will tie the whole room together so beautifully! I cannot wait for all the pieces to come together! I highly recommend this company and this genuine leather rug! So gorgeous, I can’t stop walking on it and looking at it! Very happy!!!

This is the 1st time I'm ordering cow hide from Amazon. The experience is good. It tooled only 6 days from ordering date to receiving date. The quality is very good. I will order again this evening for my 2nd piece of cow hide.

The cowhide is not very thick but tough. Very slippery to walk on so use caution if in a high traffic area. Dimensions are as advertised so make sure you measure before you order.

Arrived super quick from the US, love everything about it a real bargain, highly recommend this company....
