Good Boston city guide
Love the DK Eyewitness travel guides and have bought many of them. In this case we bought both the DK Eyewitness Boston and Top 10 Boston books in anticipation of guests coming to visit us now that we've relocated to the Boston area. We were hoping to find information about historic homes, public gardens, and other lesser known sites in the greater Boston area. Both of these titles are great for Boston proper; but the reason I gave them only 4 stars is that they only cover the city of Boston and in the outlying areas section Cambridge, Concord and Lexington. Unfortunately nothing on Salem, the North Shore, Plymouth and other surrounding areas of interest. If you are visiting Boston and intend to stay pretty much in town then these are good guides for you. If you are on a more extended stay and want to find out about the surrounding areas you will need to supplement with another guide.

Probably the only guide you'll need
This book is small enough to carry with you as you travel Boston, and it is pretty thorough. There are others that are more complete, but too much to drag around with you all day and more info than you need if you are going for less than a week. I do wish they had covered the Harvard Museum of Natural History more fully (and this is why I only gave 4 stars) -- do some on line research on that if you are planning a visit. Also, if you have time, read the book BEFORE you go, then just refer to highlights as you travel. You'll get more out of it and be able to plan your trip better so you avoid wasting time. We didn't get the book till a couple of days before we left but it was still very helpful.

Handy travel guide for the Kindle
A crisp, no nonsense guide that covers the basics. Be aware that "top 10" means just that - the author selects 10 items in various categories. For a recent trip to Boston I looked at various travel guides, both Kindle and "dead tree". This volume on the Kindle offered the best cost/value ratio: no extra weight to carry, hyperlinks and search in the book made it easy to find things, hyperlinks to website made it easy to get the latest information. Coming from a static publication, some of the information was out of date. For example, 7 out of the 10 top things to see at the Museum of Fine Arts were not on display.

Great value, thin guide that fits any bag with all the info you need for a short get away
Great guide if you are on a weekend get away or on a short business trip, like I was. I wanted to know the highlights of the city for dinner, drinks, shopping, sight seeing and museums. This guide offers all of that. It's a think book that will fit in any bag. Has a map in it as well, that also has metro and public transport on it. Great value for the money!

Great Guide (Especially if you are using the "T")
When my wife and I first went to Boston 4 years ago with some friends, this guide was a life saver. It gives a lot of great tips and information about the different attractions in the Boston area. The maps of the "T" are very useful. Now that we are heading back this summer, we had to get our own copy. I was glad that is was updated, too. As we venture to other cities/areas with an eyewitness guide available, we will definitely look into getting it.

Good quick trip guide
Limited but very good information for short trips. Not the best travel book out there but if you need one for a very short trip, this one is great.

Excellent Tour Guide of Boston
What I love about electronic books is that in less than a minute — the book is on your devices. While we've not yet gone on our trip, perusal of this tour guide suggests it is perfect for quick information. Organization is excellent according to chapter headings — there are numerous maps and color illustrations and good descriptions. Highly recommended.

TOP 10 is always on top of things
I have never been disappointed with a TOP 10 travel guide. I have several of them for both the US and for Europe and they have never let me down. You will see the top 10 sights and much, much more. This guide includes sights, shopping, eating and other activities. It is concise and it is complete.
