reliability
It is a reliable set up to provide proper aeration to maintain a healthy pond environment for the fish population. I have already used the same system and I am pleased with its functionality.

Good air production, watch out for premature wear, great customer service.
Questionable durability of recent models. We have two ponds of about 1000 gallons. The oldest pond with larger surface had a cheaper no name brand 4 channel aerator, the newer smaller surface pond an AirMax 2 (purchased outside of amz). As the no name died after a couple years, and the airmax impressed, I figured, let me spend extra on another AirMax 2 (AMZ Prime). Arrived in two days. Within a couple weeks, one side stopped working. Probably a fluke. Exchanged via AMZ. New one (August 2017) does great. Now December 2017, freezing temperatures in NNE, a ThermoPond Heater and the AirMax should keep the water open. Except the side near the pond heater froze over?! Whereas the other side is open, where air bubbles come out. Can’t move the farthest line, and the thermopond cant reach the distant hole, because its short wire is encased several feet lengthwise in 5” of ice. It is 15F, thawing out a section, chipping ice figuring maybe the line compressed, reached shoulder deep in the water below 5” of ice, to retrieve the dead line, figured I could replace with a short line over the top to be sure ... the ball / airport junction cracked when I tried to gently pull the black airline off ... just great. Just fired off an email to AirMaxEco. It will be interesting to see how and how fast this will be resolved, with that one year warranty. [Edit] Great customer service. Just got a wonderful call from an AirMax representative. Most understanding. They are shipping out new air stones and a diaphragm. I was advised the air stones should only placed 2 feet below the water line (not deeper, so following thermo ponds advice of putting air stones in the deepest spot at 3 ft - 4 ft ... one shoots themselves in the foot ) ... and that even though they did fine in summer, it does increase wear on the diaphragm and they will gradually push less air. Then add in colder temperatures, perhaps some blockage due to moisture buildup in the line or compression of the air line due to ice pressure ... and the unit will look defective due to increased wear. >>> Was advised + for winter time, put the two air stones together at about 2 feet depth in proximity of the thermo-pond and use just enough air hose as needed to reduce back pressure. Let the fish be undisturbed in the deeper area. + the diaphragms are a wear item, so if one notices reduced air output ... they are available online or via their store or customer service.

Works well when cold
I waited to see how the pump would work through most of the winter before writing my review. The pump is installed in a small 2 foot deep water feature in my garden railroad. When I first installed the pump in September a slight cloudiness that I had been unable to clear up all summer disappeared within days. The pump is installed inside a model building to protect it from the weather. The control knob could be adjusted from a small bubble stream to what looked like a nice simmer. As the overnight temperatures dropped I noticed I needed to keep turning up the adjustment knob to maintain the same airflow. When the overnight temps dropped down in the low teens and single digits I had to turn the control up to full to keep the desired air flow. Even though the pond still iced over the fish did well and remained active. When the overnight temps stayed in the high 20s there would be a small open area in the ice. The sound level is low and it is masked by the falling water and stream when that is running. A great pump for a small pond.

Great bubbler for my outdoor pond BUT only lasts 2 years
Worked great for my outdoor 1500 gallon pond BUT only lasts 2 years. Very quiet and kept a hole in the ice, which is why I bought it. I don't use it in the summer as I have a fountain.
