The system allows you to set up any brand of surround speakers without the need for front to back of room wires. The system has a low latency (15 ms) and is a quick and easy installation. No programming, no fuss. Just audio. Note: SurroundCast is not compatible with any other Soundcast products. Review: Excellent simple home theater solution - For people who have simple home theaters and don't want to run wires to their rear speakers, this is an excellent solution for a reasonable price! I bought this universal rear speaker kit to replace a cheap broken Rocketfish system, and it's better in every category. Set up is a breeze and straight-forward. The system only comes with a quick setup guide which is all that is necessary. Just wire up the speakers and your receiver accordingly (spare wires are provided if necessary), plug in the power source and the units automatically pair with blue indicator lights. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes depending on how much furniture you have to move around. The units have simple controls that you probably will never have to touch. There are no pairing buttons since the units are factory paired. There are no power buttons since the units automatically go to sleep after a period of inactivity, and they power back on by themselves. There are volume calibration controls, but I never had to use them and it's probably better to manage this through your receiver. The SCS100 units themselves are small (about the size of two decks of cards side-by-side) and easy to conceal if necessary. I have mine oriented so they have pretty much unobstructed line of sight, which is always recommended if possible for any wireless solution where latency and interference is a factor. In addition, the units appear to be high quality. There don't appear to be any cheap parts and they're put together sturdily. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. One caveat that should be pointed out is if you have a booming high-watt home theater system, then you should probably spend more money to match the quality of your system in the first place. This product puts out 50W of power, which is great for small satellites (even if they're rated for higher wattage) but probably won't have the power for larger and more powerful speakers. Either run the wires or find a solution that pumps out more watts since this will most likely leave you underwhelmed. A factor I can't review yet is reliability, since I've only had the system set up for a couple days. From other reviewers, I haven't heard anything about DOA units or units that break shortly after use. I expect the units to be reliable, but I'll know better 6 months from now. Review: Worked for 6 months - This has worked pretty good for 6 months. Now 1 of the channels has failed making this a mono setup. Does not need the power of the mains. Set it up with a clear line of sight between rec and tx , have a good receiver like my Yamaha its no problem, do not even realize its there. But they are in the same room with a couch in between. **Q: Will the Surroundcast work with input from a 100 watt per channel home theater amplifier or is that too much current for the transmitter to handle?** A: The answer is yes and it's because the design works by resistive loading of the signal to just bleed enough voltage off to use and to pass to the transmitter. The Soundcast SurroundCast delivers on both points. I previously tried another company's devices, but they and our Netgear router didn't play well together. At all. I thought the loud POPS were going to blow the wireless devices or my surrounds or both. The seller wanted me to disable the 5GHz band on the router, which I didn't want to do. Luckily, despite the seller saying that he didn't accept returns, I was able to convince him to accept a return from me. I had read mixed reviews about the SurroundCast's ability to not interfere with WiFi, but I figured it was worth a try. I'm glad I took the plunge. As others have noted, this system is the epitome of plug & play. I plugged speaker wires into the transmitter, connected the surrounds to the receiver, plugged both power supplies in...and heard nothing. That's what I wanted to hear! With the other system, before I even turned audio on, I was being subjected to100+ dB POPS that scared the bejeezus out of me and our cats. With the SurroundCast, nothing but glorious silence. What a relief. Once I turned the audio on, the units communicated perfectly (line of sight, about 15 feet apart). If your surrounds are much farther apart, some folks say you might have a communication issue, but I had no such issue. The system worked absolutely perfectly for me.
