Casts well with no binding, Easy to use if your beginning fishing and looking for an inexpensive reel. Bought this for use of just dropping my line from the kayak, which the trigger system works well. You can't go wrong buying this.

You definitely get what you pay for and this reel feels very cheap, but cheap was the whole point of me buying it so I can't complain. I've never tried this style of reel before and I think this is a pretty good one to try without spending a lot of money on something I may or may not have liked. Casting is very smooth and the action of the trigger has been very responsive in my experience.

Time passes….its held up for several trips. A solid 4 and I’m upgrading to a 5 despite the funky packaging. It’s not the best reel of its kind, nor does it have any exceptional unique features. It’s just a good basic reel and for the price, well worth it. I like to give stuff a 5 if it’s what it says it was and does what it’s supposed to. This reel is and does. I hope they’re still making a version in 50 years. —— It came in a battered box, stuffed in a plastic bag, no manufacturers card, no manual, no nuttin’. It didn’t appear to be a recycled return though, as the line still had the original tag on it, soooooo…hard to say. At any rate, it seems to work as it should but I’ll have to try it out and update this. I will say however I have an assortment of reels, and these lil Zebcos do have a place in the lineup. I’ve gotten various 303’s over the years, now to start my grand children on and the 303 Micro Trigger reel with 4b test is a decent little ultra light reel, for the money. All the basic control you need, reversible handle, and you can move up to 6 lb test line and cover a lot of water with a simple economical tool. (I’d give the 303 5 stars, for what it is at this cost point but it came in shabby packaging, whoever’s responsible for that.)

I put new braided line on and attached this reel to my eagle claw telescopic pole. I had not problem bringing in trout around the 1 and 1.5!b trout. Will keep using and update my review if anything changes. But overall I’m happy with the purchase. I have more expensive equipment but I also like these push button reels for fun. Will buy one for my son and daughter.

I bought one of these a few years ago and loved it. Great casting and quick response when I was in moving water in my canoe. I took a spill and lost it. I was excited to order a new one and did. I have taken it out on one trip and something is seriously wrong with the release mechanism. 75% of my casts never leave the rod. To get it to work I have to pull the trigger, release, pull out some line, pull the trigger again and cast normally. Then, even when doing this, most of my casts still catch around mid cast and fall short or pop back towards me. I am going to try to return for another and hopefully Zebco will help out. Otherwise, this guy is going in the trash.

My son is autistic and we have recently taken up. Fishing together, he struggled initially with a traditional reel, so I purchased this, he loved it, easy to use, no messing about, he was fishing in no time, I on the other hand struggle to use it, just haven't got the touch, still not sure how to turn on the bite alarm though, my boy has since started to use a traditional reel also but won't be without this one so 2 rods it is lol. Would recommend this to anyone, sturdy, compact, looks great, no messing about, very practical and accurate, great product.
