Zoo Animals Mini Stained Glass Coloring Book (Dover Little Activity Books: Animals) Review: Small, entertaining booklet/great for travel and other waiting times - Excellent value, and can keep young children entertained for a few minutes. Now these books are small--but that's kind of the point of these book, I think. They're portable, easy to throw in a briefcase or purse or back of the car, and handy to give to children at the doctor's office waiting room, or in an airport, or on a car trip, or at a restaurant waiting for food, or really, just anywhere where you want to have a short educational (or semi-educational) activity. And I gotta admit, I like that this is an "un-plugged" option. Not on a phone or tablet or screen--just a good old-fashioned book with simple activities, vivid illustrations, and things to *do*--that is, an active, tactile experience--even if the activities are quite simple (like peeling stickers). We don't leave home without a few of these. (Just be prepared, if you haven't ordered these before, for a small booklet, not a *book* book.) Review: Great Classroom Activity - I used many varieties of these in the small post card rectangle size and in the 8x10 size and had 2nd graders color them in as during my chapter book read aloud time. My classroom was blessed with a lot of windows. We posted the finished products on the windows. By the end of the school year my windows displayed a beautiful mosaic of "stained glass." The effect of coloring while listening to the story allowed students to embed the story in their minds and provided kinesthetic activity for the more restless students.

Timeless cool coloring!
I'm in my late 20s now and I had loads of these books when I was growing up and I really loved them, I have fond memories of coloring for hours and then taping them up to my bedroom window. I wanted to pass along the memories to my little cousins who are 5-8 so I bought a variety of books. Both girls and boys alike found themes they liked in the Dover Stained Glass series, there are lots of different ones to choose from. The snowflake ones were especially appropriate for the snow we just had and I received a photo of some colored snowflakes taped on the window with snow in the background. Fun!

I like putting these Little Dover books in with gifts
They work especially well with shoebox gifts. Most of the "stained glass" books from Little Dover Books do not have captions, this one does (labeling the animals...lion, polar bear, rhinoceros, kangaroo, giraffe, elephant, gorilla, camel). In some ways I wish the labels weren't there, as not all children speak English. Still, the pictures are nice, the size is right to tuck in with some markers, dry (just add water) paint, crayons. The books would fit nicely into a diaper bag, a purse, a laptop bag and so forth to keep someone entertained for a while. The stained glass look photos can then be removed and "hung up" in a window or someplace for the artist and loved ones to admire. I am happy to start my shopping early this year, as I think people will need the employment now. These are made in the USA products.

Good value
The kids like using with markers & displaying in a window. Works best for an adult to remove the staples in the center of the book, then cut to seperate pages to prevent tearing as they are not perforated.
