Works great
I've bought two of these alternators and they're both working well. The quality looks good and the price is great. No annoying core returns. The 80amp is only a few dollars cheaper so this 150amp is the way to go for E36s

Does not have threads to install OEM bolt.
Works well. After installation, car was more responsive. Had the car for about 4 months then suddenly died in the middle of the road. Jump started the car, started fine and battery light flickers on and off while driving. Diagnosed as a bad Alternator. Ordered this one while waiting on OEM part. Installed it and as one of the other reviews mentioned, the bottom bracket does not have a threaded hole to install the factory bolt. The OEM alternator does have threads on the back of the bottom bracket. Ran to the closest auto parts store to get a 3/8x16 - 6" bolt, washers and nuts to go with it. Installed the 6" bolt, washers and nut, along with some thread locker for safety. I hope in the future, the seller mentions this OR includes a nut/bolt combination to make installation easier. Part functions fine for now. Will revisit otherwise.

Waste of time as amazon does not seem to care about actually.. fitting...it dont have a plug
Well if you feel like wasting alot of time, this is a GREAT scam... you get the alternator and its a 140 amp yet the tiny 2 pin plug that connects to the back cant plug in well because even though the PARTS DIRECT said it fits... it dont even have ANY plug to plug in the connector .... none..... just the bolt for the main which is a HUGE oversite ... and should be listed on the AD,.... prior to us having to pay 160bucks.. wait days.,, just to get to send it all back... for nothing. amazon has really started slipping.... this is NOT the first time this kind of stuff and amazon seem to be normal for them now....to lie and just send out whatever.

Fit perfectly after I transferred the bottom rear thread insert from the old alternator to the new one. The new had a thru-hole insert that I removed.
