    Needs 5V for  power but 3.3V for logic

The unit itself is mostly straight forward to use, reliable, and accurate.  I used it with UART on a WEMOS D1 Mini and C++ libraries with Arduino IDE.  Main thing to be aware of is connect the two power cables to 5V, but make sure the two communication cables are max 3.3V for the logic or it will not work. Also, for the C++ libraries I used, the code authors recommended all print statements be removed from the library code to make it work and that was already done in that version of the code.  Fwiw, I also have the new TF-Luna and in UART mode it is plug-and-play compatible with with this TFmini-S with no code changes.

    Finally an Accurate and Affordable DYI "LIDAR" system

I have been building robots and other hardware products for many years. As far as distance measuring devices go, I have been very disappointed with the typical U/S range finders that we all know and have tried. This IR Time of Flight Sensor is an accurate, precise, consistent, and affordable measuring system for your projects. The python API and help files on the manufacturer's Github page makes connecting and software development straight forward. FYI, several of the early APIs by 3rd parties, do not work as advertised, probably just out of date now.I used a TTL USB converter to manage the required voltage shifts, it makes life easier. This devices worked with my PC, Arduino, and RPi.

Had a sensor ordered, got it, powered it up (correctly) and it smoked. wrote a poor review, got an email asking if I want my money back or a new one, got the new one and it works.Customer service os an a+
