I recommend the 8000 Bait Feeder Rockaway with a 12ft to cover your self on all beaches **Q: What is the max drag in pounds?** A: Somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty pounds i think, but if you need more drag get a Penn international level wind . Those things can stop just about anything . **Q: Is this the 8K?** A: Miguelytus, there's only 2 sizes. 6000 & 8000. If you check on the Okuma web site it'll validate what i'm saying. **Q: can I use braid on this reel?** A: Yes you can. I'd first put on some electrical tape on the inner arbor of the spool first so the line won't slip. Overall not a bad reel, but don't expect top level performance at this price point. The line lay is decent, but there is some wobble of the spool during high stress cranking periods. The drag system is smooth but does not have a very wide range. The reel is relatively light in weight and should last in the salt water environment.
