I use this in my dogs collar for auto doggie door…much cheaper and works great. I would say it last around a year…obviously it would depend on how much your dog goes in and out. I have a small dog and she uses it at 8-10 times a day.

We purchased the electronic pet door couple years ago with two devices for our doggies became indispensable and some how are doggies seem to know when the devices are not working properly they let's know.
