First Rate!
The Magnacut Strongarm stands out as a thoughtfully engineered tool that feels rugged, precise, and purpose-built. Its balance and weight are dialed in just right, and it arrives razor-sharp with excellent fit and finish. It occupies an ideal middle ground—substantial enough for demanding tasks without being cumbersome—making it a reliable choice for both daily use and emergency preparedness. There’s little justification for paying several times more for a premium-brand blade that you’d hesitate to actually use. This knife feels ready for real work and built to endure years of hard service. As someone who normally relies on folding knives (EDC) throughout the day, I decided to compare this directly against a visually similar budget imitation. The difference was immediate and dramatic. The Strongarm features a thick, robust blade with quality steel, a durable protective coating, a comfortable textured grip, and a solid, well-designed sheath. The copy, by contrast, was noticeably thinner, poorly constructed, and paired with inferior materials. Despite appearances, they are worlds apart—this knife earns its price by delivering true performance. Out of the box, the edge was cleanly ground and extremely sharp. The handle scales provide excellent traction, grip and comfort, while the overall balance allows for extended carry without fatigue. The spine on my unit is rounded, which limits ferro rod use, but that’s a minor tradeoff given how versatile the knife is overall. It’s not intended as a dedicated bushcraft blade, but it performs confidently across a wide range of tasks. The sheath deserves special mention. It holds the knife securely without making re-sheathing awkward and offers multiple carry options, including scout and vertical configurations. The snap retention adds peace of mind while still allowing quick access when needed. In use, the knife has handled everything from splitting kindling to food preparation with ease. The edge geometry and balance inspire confidence, and the blade behaves predictably in the hand. While some may dislike the partially serrated edge, it suits my needs perfectly. Construction quality is excellent, and when you’re far from help and depending on your gear, that matters. Steel choice will always be debated, but corrosion resistance is a priority in wet environments. For damp climates, the steel used here strikes a sensible balance between durability, ease of maintenance, and rust resistance. Overall, this is an exceptionally capable, well-built knife that delivers function over flash. If you want a dependable tool you won’t hesitate to use hard, this one is difficult to beat.

Excellent value for a very nice tool you won't be afraid to use.
Magnacut version of Strongarm is well designed, nicely manufactured, and feels like a high quality piece of equipment. Balanced and solid, very sharp from the factory, it seems to hit the sweet spot for size and weight. I look forward to using this tool for various jobs and as a part of my emergency gear. I see no need to spend 3-5X as much for a similar tool from a high end manufacturer only to be afraid to get it dirty. I expect the Strongarm to last for many years and tackle any job I need it to do.

Awesome Fix Blade Knife!
I decided I wanted a fix blade knife for camping and hiking plus protection in general. I did some research and I decided on this knife by Gerber, I had some folding knives by them and never had any issues so I went with their fix blade knife knowing they make a quality product. I assumed this knife would be high quality too, and I am happy to say it surpassed my expectations! Pros: This knife is awesome, Gerber spares no expense making this knife the quality is 2nd to none! If comes with a hard plastic sheath that is pretty universal. The weight of this blade is perfect, the weight makes the knife feel rugged, a you know you are holding a quality product when its in your hands. Gerber made a super comfortable handle over its tang it uses rubber over a hard plastic that feels strong and amazing in my hand, it is easy to get a good grip on it. This knife won't accidentally slip from your hand! Cons: really only thing I can think of is the price, it's expensive but you absolutely get what you pay for it is 100% worth the money! Final thought: This Gerber fix blade knife is hands down the best knife I have ever held. If you are considering this knife please buy this with confidence! I got it both in tan and black, yes I ordered a 2nd one after I got the first because I like it so much. Both color options are great. (I do like the black slightly better but both look good) I plan to buy my 3rd one soon, I thought about getting another brand, but I have checked out a bunch now and this one beats out the rest! A++ knife

Go with Gerber
Excellent knife. I usually carry fold up knives. I use them a hundred times daily. Gerber is great so I gave this a shot AND I bought a knock off of this knife at the same time. The gerber blade is excellent, solid, thick, sharp, good cerakote coating, great handle with easy to hold coating, great sheath. The knockoff was half the thickness of the Gerber, cheap steel, plastic handle, cheap flimsy sheath. HUGE difference between the two despite the fact that the knockoff looks almost exactly the same. They are NOT and Gerber is well worth the added cost if you want a real solid work knife.

Great knive
Great design. Holding on your hand very comfortable. Great tool to have while camping, hiking. Really like the fact I can wear on my belt horizontal as well as typical vertical on your belt or strapped to you backpack. Very sharp right out the box. Have many Gerber blades and never an issue

This is fabulous. So far i have used this for firewood prep,, food prep etc. the blade is super sharp, and despite the coating the 90 degree angle on the blade works perfectly with a ferro rod for fire lighting. plus with a perfect balance it feels safe in your hand and acts in a predictable way. I know some people are against the semi serrated blade but for what i need it's right. I have to say it's all pro and no cons. I would recommend this blade for it's strength and construction quality as when you're miles away from anywhere and relying on your equipment this will do the job. I know some people will not like the 420 HC steel but I live in the north of England where it's rainy and damp a lot of the time and 420 HC is a good compromise as it's resistance to rust is better than some of the higher tech steels used in more expensive blades.

This is an excellent blade. I only have two very specific criticisms about it, and neither has in any way impeded my enjoyment of it. First, the good points. This is an excellent survival or camp knife. It's just the right size - large enough for real work but not too large you feel silly. The blade is sharp and the point is good. Some have mixed feelings about the serration, but I personally prefer it for cutting rope and the like; it works fine for this purpose. The spine of the blade is more than thick enough that I never felt any hesitation about batonning with this knife (using it like a wedge to cut wood - you hit the spine with another piece of wood to force it into the log). It's held up chopping its way through a couple dozen large chunks of wood with no complaints at all, though some of the black on the blade is wearing off along the taper of the blade. The grip is comfortable and appropriately textured, even if your hands are wet or sweaty; the shape of the grip in particular holds your hand lengthwise and feels more comfortable and natural than just an oval grip. The only downsides I have are related to the sheath. The included sheath has a variety of attachment options, so it's clear someone tried, but I find them all awkward to use. Slinging it across your belt horizontally is a bad idea because the handle sticks out and gets caught and the belt loop connectors are oddly sized. Slinging it vertically on your belt is equally awkward. I mostly just stuck it in my pocket (in the sheath), which worked fine. In addition to these, the retention mechanism involves a piece of plastic that gets caught on the groove you can see in the knife's guard at the base of the blade. This works fine, but I do feel like in time, with multiple removals, this mechanism will weaken and the knife will no longer be retained in the sheath. In fact, after perhaps 50-100 cycles, I think I can already feel this happening. That being said, it's a great knife and my current daily driver. Be aware of the price: on amazon, the four variations (black serrated, black smooth, brown serrated, brown smooth) vary between $70 and $110 CAD depending on the supplier and what's in stock. Sometimes if you wait a bit, the variation you want will be in stock and you can knock twenty or thirty bucks off the price. On the other hand I've only ever seen it in stores around $90-$100, so $70 or $75 may not matter much.
