While the data connection on the BYEASY is IDE — the power connection is a standard molex power connector. The Seagate drive uses a 4-prong power connector. So while you could connect the BYEASY IDE data port to your drive, you would have no way to power it because the molex power cable won't connect to it. If you can find a 4-prong to molex power adapter, then the BYEASY should work just fine. But I have never seen that kind of adapter; however, that doesn't necessarily mean one doesn't exist. If your drive is in a functioning computer, the easiest way to transfer the data is to buy a USB thumb drive (256gb) and just copy your data to it. Note: It will take a long time to transfer the files if your hard drive is full and you are using a 2.0 USB port. (A 3.0 USB port would be a lot faster.) A 256 gb thumb drive only costs around $30. That's not much more than the BYEASY. If you want an exact (image) copy of your hard drive, I would clone it to the 256gb thumb drive and then clone that to your new hard drive. Any free cloning software you download off the internet should be able to do the job for you.
