This fancy Panasonic camcorder could not be used with both line power and an external microphone. I had to create a ritual of charging the battery and remembering to disconnect the power supply before recording a video. Sometimes I'd forget one and have a dead battery or a noisy video which I'd have to re-record. (Unfortunately, most technology has similar blind spots - my other camera - a Sony - can only record OR charge, not both at the same time, so that is hopeless too) Because the jack was proprietary, I thought I was stuck with the factory cord then I found this. The factory cord is flat, 2-conductor zip cord or miniature lamp cord. This replacement is round and probably shielded. In any case it works.

I took a chance and bought this power cable for my Panasonic camcorder (HC-WXF1), and it fits/works. The original power cable that came with the camcorder is kind of skinny and looks flimsy. The new cable looks beefier and durable. Plus, the quality seems good.
