Installation was done by a highly skilled finish carpenter. Took him a few hours to prep the door, etc. Works like a charm - exactly what I was seeking. It is smooth and quiet - no squeaks, is self closing and has a hold open at 90 and 105. Have only had it for a week, so longevity remains to be seen, but it functions well. About 1000 times better than those squeaky spring hinge pivots, but also much more difficult to install.

Extremely challenging install. I knew that going in and so the install didn’t influence my rating. But let me tell you. It was a whole week of researching and planning the measurements, and then 3 full days actually installing. I’m not professional, just a DIYer with an engineering degree and a lot of time and energy for house work. But if you don’t own basic woodworking tools and have experience with woodworking, you’ll definitely need a contractor. That being said, here’s my rating breakdown: 5 for looks. It’s flush with the door and looks sleek. 3 for noise, it’s a little clunky sounding, but not the end of the world. 5 for functionality. Works exactly as described. Overall, really happy with the purchase and proud I was able to install it myself.

I'm an experienced woodworker and this product is fairly difficult to install. One problem is that the instructions are a bit lacking. The gap from the hinge end of the door to the frame isn't specified and it's better that you allow 3/16" or better or you might get scrapes unless you frame is dead plumb. It should be but.... The precision of your mortises is fairly critical. The mortise in the bottom corner of the door leaves very little material on the faces and is quite fragile until it's installed. Other than that, it is a very slow, smooth close, which I prefer to the slap back action of the regular spring hinges. The quality seems to be fairly good, overall, making it a good value for the dollar. Overall, I recommend it but only with professional installation. Not a weekend warrior type of item.

These are smooth, sturdy hinges. Worked perfectly for double closet doors made out of book cases.
