CLP Cleaner Lubricant and Preservative Gun Cleaner, CLP-5, Spray Bottle, Synthetic Handgun Lube, 1 Pint

This is the first gun cleaner/lubricant I've bought, so take my review with that in mind, but overall this is an excellent dual-purpose cleaner. It easily gets off the carbon grime using a thick brush and provides excellent lubrication for the slide. Rather than using the included spray mechanism, I bought separate bottles and filled them with the CLP - one smaller, fine spray bottle (for cleaning) and one bottle with a needle tip (for applying oil for lube). For a smaller gun, I'd recommend this setup so that you can more finely control where the product is going. I'm happy with this and will definitely get it again when needed - which will likely be in some time! The two bottles I've bought - 2.5 oz. and 0.5 oz. - have been used three times now and are still essentially full. I clean my weapon after every trip as I find cleaning to be a meditation of sorts and relaxing. Assuming weekly trips to the range and cleaning after every trip, I expect this bottle will last at least a year if not longer. Can't complain about a year's supply of cleaner for the price!

CLP Clean, Lubricate, Protect, was created for the military. Usually contractors fight over contracts, it's lucrative. In 1975 CLP was created by a chemist for the military as a universal cleaning and lubricating fluid it worked so well over the competition they ordered drums of the stuff. In 1987 I join the Marines, shortly later served in Desert Storm then again in IRAQ. Each time carrying a 1911 on my side....cleaned and lubricated with CLP. If you're military you get it, if a civilian maybe not. So here's the deal, CLP is the best lubricant type product to use on a weapon PERIOD!!!! I used it when in the chit, and I use it now as a Civy. So trust me it works well, just buy you'll get it.

The product itself works great. Is a nice cleaner, lubricant, and protectant (hence CLP). Works well on firearms. I advise letting soak for a few minutes. Also a great solvent for barrel cleaning if you soak your patches in it. I find the liquid works about the same as the aerosol. However, the AEROSOL SMELLS HORRIBLE. Either use the aerosol in a very well ventilated room or outside. The liquid has barely any smell and "seems" less corrosive. In addition I feel like the liquid lasts longer since you don't overuse, which the aerosol might lead you to do. CLP actually works over time as well. After you clean your gun check on it the next day and you will see more grime that got "pushed" out to the surface. I originally had entered the wrong shipping address. This was my fault which I accept. When I called LG Outdoors to change the destination they said it would cost me $11 to redirect. Unfortunately it actually got delivered to the wrong address regardless. I came to find out after the fact that the shipper, LG Outdoors, had to have it shipped back to them and back to me. This cost me another week, but they were kind enough not to charge me for it. In addition they followed up with a phone call apologizing for the difficulty and made sure I understood the problem. LG Outdoors seems like a reasonable company that is concerned about its customers. However, Amazon needs to improve its interface that allows the third party suppliers to contact the customers. Right now they are not even able to email us, which severely hampers their ability to provide decent service. After all, most shipping notifications and the like are by automated email. Without good communication the shopping process can be severely hampered, not because of the sellers but because the middleman, in this case Amazon, is not facilitating the transaction as well as I would hope.

This is my second review after I got an email stating my first one couldn't be posted because of a possible allusion to profanity. Okay. I haven't actually used this firearms cleaner / preservative yet but I wanted to say I bought it because of some of the chems I used when I was in the USN. They got a lot of stuff you use in the daily performance of your particular job and that stuff works real well. The specs for this stuff state conformance with some milspecs and that's good enough for me. I have no doubt it will work as advertised and I'll probably get more to have on hand.

Noticed this in a YouTube video on gun maintenance. Product is great, it also is fantastic in removing Cosmoline!
